  • Hello! Happy holiday to those who are not working today!!!!

    Aug. 1….. Moving Day for some, SLOW elevator day for others…Must have sat there and waited for 15 minutes.

    Today is supposed to be our Tomboy That Wears Makeup Of The Month post, BUT she is a very busy gal and I will post it as soon as I hear from her!!! I saw on facebook today that June’s Feature, Jenny Fletcher is on the cover of Running magazine for September!!! That is so cool!

    I went to the gym today and did elliptical and some weight training. I am running a 10km at the end of August, so I need to get out there and run some miles under my belt. (foot…still lame-o though…)

    We are running the Cornfest Fun Run in Taber, Alberta! My brother and his wife are also doing it with us. Shall be fun! Eat corn after:)

    Last night I dehydrated some kale chips over night and in the morning, we had a Kale Fest!

    best batch of kale chips ever!

    I was so shocked at how well the dehydration feature on my oven works. Amazing.

    Other than admiring Jenny Fletcher and my dehydrator I actually had to work today.

    I voiced that “teenage” spot for isoccer and I did a phone system.

    Hope you are having a fabulous day!

    I have been working away. Finished day 2 of my P90X! My arms and abs are pretty sore from yesterdays workout, but no pain no gain!

    I am also working on a voiceover project for another translation company (seems to be my thing lately)
    People are interviewed on some videos and I am the English voiceover. Pretty easy work, keep em coming!!

    I used 2 heads of Kale and the mound on the pan was massive

    I seasoned them with freshly squeezed lemon and pepper.

    Kinda looks like weed hey? but sooo far from it, lol (they did not last long!! So good and so healthy!)

    I want to get into some more recipes……. soon!!

    So this is pretty exciting to me. I have an app that tracks how many countries are following my blog….we are at 21!!

    So cool! In honour of reaching out to 21 countries, I want to share with you a video that Mike and I made for a song we wrote. This video was made during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. We got as many people as we could from other countries to sing along and participate in our video!

    YAY! Keep the countries coming! You rock! My definition of blogging is like having your own radio show, except you write instead of speak and you get to choose your own format. I can’t believe I didn’t start sooner!!

  • Gooooooood Morning Vietnam!!! (remember that Robin Williams movie?)

    How’s your Friday going? Shaping up to be a nice day here. I am warming up my voice as I write this, I have a lot of auditions this am.

    Had an “a ha” moment….As I have been getting healthier and eating better, I have been cooking more and I noticed the lack of counter space I have. Then I eyed up my microwave and thought “do I really need you?” You know how sometimes you ponder ideas and think, ahh, I better think about this for a bit. I didn’t even flinch. It was like-microwave, you are gone. NOW. BAM. So we put it down by the “community area” of my building, where people leave things they no loner want.

    Felt good to get rid of it, and the extra counter space is amazing!! If we have leftovers, just throw em in the oven, or in a frying pan on the stove.

    How are your eating habits this week? Have you been eating clean, whole foods? Wanna try a recipe that is full of iron and a great snack…..INTRODUCING KALE CHIPS.  (got the recipe from Allrecipes.com)

    Ingredients

    • 1 bunch kale
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt

    Directions

    1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
    2. With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
    3. Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

    My boyfriend is obsessed with them. They are sooo good. Light and Crispy.

    Last thing I want to mention today is affirmations. Do you do affirmations? I try to do them, but I often forget, so I have decided that everyday I will leave an affirmation at the end of my post. (to remind us both:) I will use ones from Louise Hay and then when I run out of ones from her, maybe i’ll start making them up…we’ll see. She has like 2 years worth tho! ha.

    So the best way to do this is just for 30 seconds or so, close your eyes and say the affirmation over in your head and really feel it and what it means to you. Let me know what you think! Here’s todays:
