  • When I am 64, my future husband will be 57.

    When I’m 40, he will be 33.

When I am 92, man… I just realized again how much I dislike doing math!! Just subtract 7 years to every age and you get the picture! (that I am a cougar.. haha)

Do I think about our age difference much? NOOO! In so many ways, Mike is MUCH more mature than I am, but then in other ways- I am more mature- I honestly think we balance each other out nicely.  (I suppose thats why we are getting hitched)

From the day I met this guy, he has lit up my life. I can’t say enough about him.

Here are some of our engagement photo’s!!  Taken by

We asked Andrea if we could take a picture on this dock in Coal Harbour. Mike and I sat on this dock one day and had a significant conversation and came up with some strategic ideas on how we want to spend our lives. We also ate mandarin oranges and made the peels into elephant faces as we watched the boat planes land and take off. Sentimental memories here.

He’s always looking out for me and lends me some of his protective angels whenever we are not together….

I love this shot! Kissing out side the cafe…Isn’t it cute?  (not just cause it’s us..haha- insert anyone in there and you’ve got yourself a sweet looking picture! MOM- when you and Richard come visit, we will get you some shots like this!!! You and Richard kissing outside the cafe?   woo hoo! (lol -love you momma!)

Side Note: went to the above cafe after a meeting once, I ordered a vegan brownie and it was so dry and bland, but the coffee was good, (you NEEDED to know that!)

Before we left to do the photo shoot Mike was nervous about having to kiss me in public….. good job honey!

When there was a break in traffic, we ran out into the middle of the road for the shot. Risk-takers for life!

From day 1, I lured him in with my cougar stare…

    <3 that smile.

This is one of my favourite shots. Standing side by side, ready to take on the world together.

Thanks Andrea! That was such a fun time, and now we have the memories forever!

    I want to wish a……

Happy birthday to my beautiful Sister- in-Law Nicole!

AND Happy Birthday to my soon to be brother in law Craig!

Hope you both have wonderful birthdays:)

What else is new?? I have just been working away this morning/afternoon. Sometimes I look at the time and I just wonder where it went. Feels like moments ago it was 7am and now it’s 2:51pm!

I need to get outside, go for a run. I will most likely hit up a yoga class this evening.

I CAN’T WAIT TIL WE MEET AGAIN. Thank you sooooo much for stopping by today.

  • Hey!

Happy Monday! I’m ready for a great week ahead.

    Some highlights:

    - My first ball practice tonight with my new team!

    - We are shooting a super fun yoga video this Friday

    - Marianne and Craig are coming to visit this weekend from Yellowknife

    - Sun Run is on Sunday

A part of me feels like UGH because the Sprint Triathlon I had been training for is THIS Saturday and I am not in it. Not because I don’t want to be, but because the race sold out super fast and I couldn’t get in….I have kinda eased up on my triathlon training (in case you haven’t noticed…ha) But I plan on joining a new Tri group when we get to Port Moody and I will find a race (or 2!) and rock it!

I have a free month’s yoga pass at Semperviva and I have been taking advantage of it before we move. I’ve been doing lighter workouts the last week or so..  just yoga and some running. It’s nice to ease up on the body and do some nurturing. I really do HEART yoga!

This morning I walked to a class over on Granville Island.. Along the way I toured over and under the Burrard bridge.

Pretty view of boats along the water.

Here we are!I love the decorated cement trucks!

That a big corn cob!Ohhh strawberries

This is were the yoga class was, overlooking the water (my first time at this location! I loved it!)

I wonder if any of the house boat owners take yoga here.. so convenient for them… cutie house boats…

After the wonderful class, I had to stop by the market and grab some fruits and veggies. (I was inspired by the cement trucks, lol)YESS PLEASE

When your hungry… everything looks good! I had to pull myself away from the rest of the tempting vendors in the market. I didn’t even take a picture of the desserts;)
Then I sat patiently like a good girl at the end of the dock and ate a banana while I waited for the ferry to take me home.
    Eye Eye Captain! A HOY!

So… did my beautiful morning make me think…”damn, I’m gonna miss downtown?” YUP!… But am I just as excited to move and try something new? YUP!

18 more sleeps in the big city.. Then we move to Port Moody and AMP it up in our new home:)

Have you been thinking about trying something new but are a little worried? Have FAITH!

Guess what? I have been pondering blogging twice a day once we move… Scary, but I have FAITH I can do it…. We’ll see how she all plays out…

    Talk soon!!

  • Hello!

    Happy Valentines day!

Hope you all have something sweet planned today! Mike and I celebrated lots over the weekend, so today is just another work day…

One of the highlights of my weekend was my Granville Island “Insider’s Tour”. About a month back, I entered a writing contest put on by Granville Island Works on “Why I Love Granville Island”. Low and Behold… I WON! They called and told me I was 1 of 4 Grand Prize winners (out of over 100 entry’s)

In my story, I told them about some of the reasons why I love Granville Island:

    - It’s the first place I take out of town guests

-It’s the best place to buy market fresh fruit and vegetables

    - I love to walk through the Art Gallery at Emily Carr

    - One of my favorite dates with my fiancee was dinner and then watching a play at Arts Club Theater

    - The Ferry is by far the best means of transportation in the city

    - Sampling beers at The Granville Island Brewery is a must

    - I’m not a kid anymore, but the Children’s Market is a perfect stop after the brewery

-I love to sample the yummy Sake at Artisan Sake Maker

    - I am a singer/songwriter and some of my best shows have been at the Backstage Lounge:)

So that was part of my submission (along with a video). The Grand Prize was a tour around the Island. Each of us 4 winners started our day by working with some of the artisans on the island. I was paired up with leather designer Monika from Sadryna Designs. Our Mission? To make me a handmade custom belt in 90 minutes!

I got to pick out the leather and design and we got right to work.

    sadryna design, granville island tour

Monika was inspiring to watch. You can tell how passionate she is about her work. I have so much admiration and respect for all the artists on the Island. They are truly talented and unique.

I got to do some of the finishing touches.

Monika was extremely accommodating. I will definitely pop in and say hi next time I am down Railspur Alley!

After the belt making, I met up with the other winners at The Sandbar for lunch. The food was amazing, and we could have anything we wanted:)

I love the boat in the middle of the restaurant

We got some big loot bags as part of our prize! It was like Christmas!! Fun stuff!

Then we went to The Granville Island Brewery for a tour. I was happy to hear that when the beer is given it’s flavour, it is not artificial. For example, they have a new Raspberry Ale coming out for the Spring and they actually just throw a bunch of fresh raspberry’s in the mix to get the flavour.

The day off with a boat tour around False Creek. I highly recommend entering the next contest that Granville Island Works puts on. I entered the contest because I truly do love Granville Island and all it has to offer! It was a fabulous day!

Make sure you eat some chocolate today! Yummers! Have an amazing Valentines Day!!!

  • Happy Friday! Happy Friday! Happy Friday!

I must say- I needed that sleep last night. By the end of the night yesterday, I felt like I was going a bit crazy. I was just such an insanely busy day. I don’t want this blog to be a “woe is me” complaining platform, so I choose not to mention- that sometimes I’m not always positive and sometimes really stressed. I felt like I couldn’t keep up with everything on my plate. I paused for a moment and thought- “Is this what it’s about?” I worked so hard to get to this point and I’m pulling my hair out? I said to myself, Calm the Beep down. Why take things so serious? If I want to manifest all my dreams and goals, I have to be able to handle what is given to me at any given time. Isn’t there that saying- “you will never be given more than you can handle?” It’s so true. You only live once- DON’T take things so seriously Amanda!! Have FUN… PLAY! (there I said it…it’s behind me now;)

Another saying I like is “The moment you don’t have enough time to take a break- IS WHEN YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK!” Isn’t that true? Mike and I might go to Seattle for the night on Monday. Just to chill out and have a mini vacation.

I really feel AMAZING today though! I went down to my gym for a run and a bit of weights (I ran at 6mph for 30 minutes)

Then I came upstairs and starting reading my emails. (one of the companies I get lots of my work from) sent this stat sheet over in their daily newsletter:

I thought it was pretty neat to see how well this online company is doing! I went to the main page and there I was- the #1 Top Favourite female! I am usually in the top 10, but it’s always fun to be #1!!!!!!

Woo Hoo! I am right up there with Deb Munro (one of my coaches) and Janice Downes (the voice-over QUEEN). Persistence and hard work does pay off! I may not be a rock star (which was my initial dream) but I am absolutely in love with my job. “AH HA”!!!! LOL

What are you up to this weekend? Here is a breakdown of some of the stuff I am doing:

    1. Filming and completing the video we are doing for Stormtech… (more info on that coming…..)

    2. Going on an ‘Insiders Tour” of Granville Island. I am doing some craft making, beer tasting, dinner at Sandbar, boat ride… stuff like that. This is going to be a hoot. (We will be doing some more filming of this as well) I always have fun on Granville Island. Here I am at the Chocolate Festival, tasting beer and chocolate!

    mmm, Granville Island Beer

    3. Running a Half Marathon on Sunday! Well, I’m more like walk/running it. I talked to my coach and we came up with a plan. Since I haven’t been marathon training per say, my coach advise that I run 9 minutes, walk 1, run 9 minutes, walk 1, and do the whole race like this. I think that is a good idea. I want to feel good after this!!

    4. I have 3 friends that are playing music tonight (at 3 different venues).. PLUS another friends birthday dinner. Not sure what I’ll be able to attend, but I’m gonna try.

OOOH, I almost forgot…any Valentines Day plans??? Do tell, do tell! Like I said might go to Seattle for a night on Monday, or we may do nothing, it will depend if we can wrap up some jobs first.

    Talk sooooooon!!!!
