• Hello! Happy Sunday!

Remind me never to press the snooze button again! I have been getting up really early to get things rolling on my 7 day challenge, just so I can get it done and get on with the day. However, I slept in a bit this morning and there was a price to pay!! I made my way to Grouse Mountain and it wasn’t as fun as it normally is: (here are my sob story reasons)

    1. When you hike early enough, there are not very many people around. The parking is ample. But this morning when I got to the mountain, there were 1 million people and there was NOOOO parking at all. I had to walk almost from my apartment…(well not that bad…but…)

    2. As soon as I started up the mountain, this guy, “Bobby” starting hitting on me and was talking to me the whole way up.  I would stop to take some pictures so i could ditch him so he would keep walking. THEN, he would hike a bit more and stop and wait for me!!! He says “There you are! I knew you’d catch up….” What? Not to be rude Bobby, but I am NOT hiking with you. So I stop again and take more pics and answer him in one worded sentences.

    3. Crazy lady fiercly plows me over and says “Excuse me, coming through”. Like she is breaking a world record and I am ruining it for her.

    4. Guy wearing jeans hiking???

SO…if I change my perspective on this hike and become positive Pam, I would consider that:

    1. The universe made me park down the hill, since it is my 5th day in a row hiking, universe figured it should push me a bit.

    2. Guy hitting on me was in absolute awe of how much I reminded him of his best friend who moved to Zimbabwe and he hasn’t seen her in years, so talking to me was really exciting.

    3. Crazy lady  hiking was going to get a free trip to Paris if she beat a certain time, so she was hoofing it.

    4. Maybe he just came into Vancouver for the weekend and he lost his luggage, and decided to hike in the clothes he had on…

There…just like that, my day rocks again!!

One funny thing that made me laugh at myself though, was how I kept telling people I saw 3 bears yesterday on the trail. I felt all cool like….”Yep, saw 3 bears out here yesterday, on this very trail, 5 feet away from me. They almost had me for breakfast.” I was kinda talking all jolly like that….. I am such a DORK!!

Ahhh, I made it to the top. Day 5 of my 7 day challenge is done. I normally wouldn’t work out 7 days in a row, but I am going to be taking about 5 days off from exercise when I’m in Sask. So this challenge is definitely hard, but I am really glad I am doing this.

What are you pet peeves when you work out??

    Have you been challenging yourself?

Have an awesome day! You are amazing!!

  • Hello Weekend Warriors!

What are you up to this weekend? I just just finished day 4 of my 7 day challenge. Now I am refuelling my body with a yummy Vega Shake. Mmmm.

On Wednesday I leave for Saskatchewan to visit my family and go to my cousin Robin’s wedding! It is going to be a great time. I get to see my mom, my brothers and a bunch of my cousins who I don’t get to see enough of! My cousin Margarita is coming all the way from Greece! Last time I saw her was when she came to visit me in Regina, (where I was a radio DJ)

We had a fun visit. Well, first of all the Trailer Park Boys were in town to do a live performance. (If you don’t know who they are, they are on a popular Canadian TV show.) And they came into the station to do an interview.

Here’s Marg and I at the show.

We instantly became BFF”s with “Bubbles”. He loves kitties, we love kitties…

    Happy times!

    Marg with Ricky and Julian

Then Bubbles wanted to play a game- “Who can make the craziest face.” WE were not playing!

    Okay, now Margarita is playing…..

“oh, what the heck, I’ll play too!!!!” haha

Looking forward to the visit. Margarita is also a makeup artist and we will be splitting the duties to get the bridal party looking fab!

Do you ever have crazy face contests?

  • Seriously it’s Friday already? This week has flown by.

I just got home from completing day 3 of my 7 day challenge. (Yoga and hiking for 7 days in a row!) I saw a momma bear with 2 cubs on the trail today, it was freaked out! I walked back down the trail a bit and clapped and sang until they moved along:) At yoga, there were no mean bears, just yogi’s… hahaha

I love this blog so much because I feel like I am held accountable and I want to demonstrate that we can do whatever we put our minds too.  So thank you, and I hope you are challenging yourself as well. Speaking of using our minds, do you spend time each day thinking about/visualizing  your goals/dreams? I try to, but often get caught up in the day. One way I am reminded to stop and think is with my vision board.

*note, this is not mine, I found it on the net:)

Here is one lil corner of mine (I don’t want to show the whole thing, because it will give away what’s to come:) lol

I cut this out of Self Magazine. I was drawn to it because no matter what age I am in my life, I want to be healthy and athletic. This is an olympic swimmer who is getting better as she gets older!! Just like wine! I’ll drink to that!!

Do you have a vision board? If not, here’s how ya make em:)
1.Decide the main theme of your board. It may be based on something specific you wish to accomplish or obtain, or it may be a general idea of everything that makes you happy.

2.Find pictures that correspond with your theme, either from old magazines, photographs, or from the Internet.

3.Print (if necessary) and cut out your pictures.

4.Type or write some affirmations that correspond with your theme.

5.Glue your pictures and affirmations to your poster board and pin them to a cork board (or put it in a frame)

6.Hang your vision board in a place you will see every day.

7.View your board at least once a day, and focus on the objects, sayings and theme of your board.

My boyfriend and I made ours together and it is located right above our desk.

    Have fun with it!

Update: I spent yesterday afternoon going through that major heap of clothing and this is what I came up with to donate to charity!! Wow! Are you as impressed as I am?

I found myself getting emotional with some of the clothing I was getting rid of. I would look down at a shirt and remember exactly what I was doing the last time I wore it. Or I even thought about crazy times I have been through in life and how that shirt was from that particular time. Cheesy I know, but hey, I’m a sensitive girl. lol:) But it felt good to toss it. Out with the old, in with the new!

Happy Friday! I wish you a fabulous weekend!

  • Happy Thursday!

You can always count on Oprah for some inspiration. I picked up the March issue of her magazine from the library. I was intrigued by the cover “De-Clutter your home”. So I got the magazine home, opened it up to the page and the article was gone! Someone had ripped it out. Annoying! So my motivation to clean was gone!  Then yesterday when I was at yoga, I was sitting in the lounge and a book caught my attention. “Zen and your home” (something like that) So I flipped through and it talked about the importance of a clean and organized home. “A clean house is a clean mind”, also with organization comes focus and concentration. It also mentioned to know and use what you have. If you haven’t used it or wore it in the last 6 months, and it doesn’t hold real meaning to you, get rid of it.

I know this is a tough one for us girls! Our closets are near and dear to our hearts. But if we get rid of things, we can make room for more. Woo hoo.

So I have decided to start in the bedroom, with the clothes! I have cleared things out quite a few times, but I think I’m in need for another over haul. Maybe this time I’ll be a little less forgiving and actually get rid of stuff I don’t need.

OMG, here is a pick of some of the clothes I need to go through. What am I getting myself into!!!!

I will  show you an after as soon as this gets done, which I hope is soon!

On a side note….I LOVE quinoa. Even plain jane like this with just a veggi bouillon cube in it.

And last but not least…an update on day 2 of my 7 day challenge. (if you are just tuning in, read post below) I hiked grouse this am. They were filming a tv show on the path. It may have been a reality show. I should have asked one of the camera guys. In the moment I was shy, but then I thought. WHY? Just ask, no big deal…SO because I  was shy to ask, I cannot tell you what show it was…..ANYWAY. Now I am home, I am getting some work done and then I will fulfill my challenge by going to a 2pm yoga class.  Just as much as I want to succeed, I want you to succeed. So thank you for inspiring me, so in turn, I can inspire some of you.

Here a beautiful pic of the moon my boyfriend took from our apartment the other night.

So between cleaning out my room and sticking to my challenge, plus my regular work, I have created a busy lil day! I will give you updates soon!!

Is it time for you to clean out your closet?

  • Alright! Let’s step this up a notch:)

I have been locked in a sound booth for about 3 weeks, although I still have work to do, It’s time to squeeze fitness back into my life. I have been eating really well, which is great. (except for yesterday…friends birthday party equals= a few beer and deep fried food…oops:)

So now the challenge. Starting today I am hiking a local mountain called Grouse, and I am going to a yoga class for 7 days in a row! Hike and yoga everyday for 7 days. I know what my body can handle, and if I just hiked for a week, or just did yoga, it wouldn’t be as big of a challenge. For me, this is a challenge. I completed my first day and I feel great. A bit tired since I was out kinda late last night, but I am ready to give’r. Check out a yoga studio near you, they usually have an amazing introductory deal. For example I paid $20 to give yoga a try at a new place near me.

What is a challenge to you? We are all at different levels in our fitness. For my friend Lindy, a challenge for her would probably be running 25km a day, for Sequel’s founder Brendan Brazier, he works out 8 hours a day when he is in training mode. However, depending on what level you are at, a challenge could be a 30 minute walk everyday, swimming a few laps before work, doing stairs in your apartment, or going to an aerobics class at your local gym.

What could you do to challenge yourself for one week? You can do it!!! I find that if I set the bar high for a short amount of time, it is easier to get back in the flow of making it a regular, habitual thing.
I need to get back in the flow of consistent training, no matter what the day planner looks like. I sleep better, my skin is better, I am happier. Plus, showing ourselves discipline is a huge confidence booster! I heard it takes 21 days to turn something into a habit, so go for 7 and you may keep on rolling from there:)Me hiking this morning

View from the top-you can almost see my apartment:)

Looking to the right, again from the top of Grouse

Then it’s yoga time…check out this move

wowzers, how do you do that??!!

I can at least do this move!

I am getting up at 5:30am to fit this in my schedule. I will be keeping you updated throughout the week.  Let me know how you are doing!!! Start your week when you are ready!!
