  • Good morning!!

    How are you? I’m great. I got up and listened to Morning Coach. I have been listening to the daily podcasts at Morning Coach for about 6 months now. I must say, it has really helped me grow myself as a person and stay on track. It’s $20/month- an awesome investment.

    Today on the podcast, they talked about goals. Dreams are goals with deadlines. Here are some tips on goal setting:

    1. Write your goals down on paper
    2. Be specific and clear, as detailed as possible. Don’t just say you want to lose 10 pounds. Say the date, the time, and what steps you need to take to get you there
    3. Be aware of what obstacles you may encounter. How will you handle it?
    4. Control your focus. (this is a big one for me. I get really excited about different things and can veer off track. I need to work on having a set number of goals and focus on only them)
    5. WHY are you wanting to achieve this goal? You have to have a big enough reason why you want this.
    6. Visualize yourself achieving this goal. How do you feel?

    Another thing I think that helps with reaching your goals is sharing them with a close friend, a loved one, or with the world like me on this blog, lol. That way you are held accountable and have the support from others. Look at Marianne for example. She has been sharing her journey on reaching her goals with us and it is so AWESOME! If you are just tuning it, Check here, then here. She is once and for all getting to her goal weight and I couldn’t be more proud. I talked to Marianne yesterday and she is doubling up her workouts a few times a week.  We will have another update with her on Nov.29!

    Never give up!

    I have set a new goal.
    Do yoga for 30 days in a row at Semperviva Yoga. On Oct. 30 they started a 40 day yoga challenge. I am joining in a few days late, but this will be a huge challenge for me regardless.

    Now…the WHY.

    - I want to prove to myself that I can complete a goal I set.

    - I know the benefits of yoga are life changing, not only physically, but mentally

    - It will help me stay zen and calm in other areas of my life

    - I feel so tight right now, let’s Increase my flexibility

    - Get involved in the community. Over 200 people signed up for the challenge!

    - Be the change I want to see

    I remember the first yoga class I ever went to was in LA. I was so nervous- I had a freaking supermodel next to me. Shalom Harlow was right beside me!!!She was definitely an experienced yogi and insanely flexible.

    Me….not so much….but I fake it til I make it!“Ommmmmmmm.”;)

    To be completely honest, I usually don’t like the month of November. Lame hey? To not like a month? Lame…and weird? But I am turning that around and making November the best month EVER. It’s all perception baby!

    Confession time! I did not hike or do yoga yesterday:( It would have been day 6 of my challenge). I actually drove all the way to the mountain and my body said-NOPE- not doing it today. I think it’s extremely important to listen to our bodies, so I don’t feel tooo bad. I ate processed food too..(just one of those days!! Bla)

    I just got back from Hiking today though! ( I have a conference call for a voice job this am so I can’t do yoga, i’m going to try later:) See, having a backslide is okay, just make sure you don’t slide for to long. Stop yourself and pick yourself back up and get back on your path!

    So the best way to get back on your path is to start the day right! Have some good wholesome food energy to keep you going.

    Here are some examples of what I eat for breakfast:

    1. Steel cut oats with blueberries

    2. Mmmm, raspberries

    3. These are my home made Lara Bars.

    I am going to do a more detailed blog on these soon, they are amazing and really this is all you need: (you can make any flavour you want, really:)

    4. And last but not least I have a Vega shake.

    So what I do is I take a scoop of this powder, and blend it with frozen strawberries, blueberries, freshly squeezed oj and half a banana! The powder has 100% of all your recommended daily vitamins, PLUS- green food sources. It is the ultimate drink!

    So that’s pretty much a bunch of breakfasts fit for champions like us!

  • Happy Thursday!

    You can always count on Oprah for some inspiration. I picked up the March issue of her magazine from the library. I was intrigued by the cover “De-Clutter your home”. So I got the magazine home, opened it up to the page and the article was gone! Someone had ripped it out. Annoying! So my motivation to clean was gone!  Then yesterday when I was at yoga, I was sitting in the lounge and a book caught my attention. “Zen and your home” (something like that) So I flipped through and it talked about the importance of a clean and organized home. “A clean house is a clean mind”, also with organization comes focus and concentration. It also mentioned to know and use what you have. If you haven’t used it or wore it in the last 6 months,and it doesn’t hold real meaning to you, get rid of it.

    I know this is a tough one for us girls! Our closets are near and dear to our hearts. But if we get rid of things, we can make room for more. Woo hoo.

    So I have decided to start in the bedroom, with the clothes! I have cleared things out quite a few times, but I think I’m in need for another over haul. Maybe this time I’ll be a little less forgiving and actually get rid of stuff I don’t need.

    OMG, here is a pick of some of the clothes I need to go through. What am I getting myself into!!!!

    I will  show you an after as soon as this gets done, which I hope is soon!

    On a side note….I LOVE quinoa. Even plain jane like this with just a veggi bouillon cube in it.

    And last but not least…an update on day 2 of my 7 day challenge. (if you are just tuning in, read post below) I hiked grouse this am. They were filming a tv show on the path. It may have been a reality show. I should have asked one of the camera guys. In the moment I was shy, but then I thought. WHY? Just ask, no big deal…SO because I  was shy to ask, I cannot tell you what show it was…..ANYWAY. Now I am home, I am getting some work done and then I will fulfill my challenge by going to a 2pm yoga class.  Just as much as I want to succeed, I want you to succeed. So thank you for inspiring me, so in turn, I can inspire some of you.

    So between cleaning out my room and sticking to my challenge, plus my regular work, I have created a busy lil day! I will give you updates soon!!

  • Alright! Let’s step this up a notch:)

    I have been locked in a sound booth for about 3 weeks, although I still have work to do, It’s time to squeeze fitness back into my life. I have been eating really well, which is great. (except for yesterday…friends birthday party equals= a few beer and deep fried food…oops:)

    So now the challenge. Starting today I am hiking a local mountain called Grouse, and I am going to a yoga class for 7 days in a row! Hike and yoga everyday for 7 days. I know what my body can handle, and if I just hiked for a week, or just did yoga, it wouldn’t be as big of a challenge. For me, this is a challenge. I completed my first day and I feel great. A bit tired since I was out kinda late last night, but I am ready to give’r. Check out a yoga studio near you, they usually have an amazing introductory deal.For example I paid $20 to give yoga a try at a new place near me.

    What is a challenge to you? We are all at different levels in our fitness. For my friend Lindy, a challenge for her would probably be running 25km a day, for Sequel’s founder Brendan Brazier, he works out 8 hours a day when he is in training mode. However, depending on what level you are at, a challenge could be a 30 minute walk everyday, swimming a few laps before work, doing stairs in your apartment, or going to an aerobics class at your local gym.

    What could you do to challenge yourself for one week? You can do it!!! I find that if I set the bar high for a short amount of time, it is easier to get back in the flow of making it a regular, habitual thing.
    I need to get back in the flow of consistent training, no matter what the day planner looks like. I sleep better, my skin is better, I am happier. Plus, showing ourselves discipline is a huge confidence booster! I heard it takes 21 days to turn something into a habit, so go for 7 and you may keep on rolling from there:)Me hiking this morning

  • Good afternoon Sunday Sweets!

    Hope your weekend is going well.

    I met up with a few ladies to go see new flick Eat Pray Love. I have not read the book yet, I feel bad because my friend Diana lent me the book and I left it with my mom in Saskatchewan.  (Dee, I am going to Sask in a couple weeks, so I will grab it!)

    I really enjoyed the movie. The message I got and one that I truly believe is to always follow your heart, no matter how hard it seems at the time to “change” the place you are in, life is to short not too!!

    I cried.. a lot..like I normally do at movies. (I cried at the new remake of Karate Kid too, ha)

    Bright and early we met up for brunch. I need to do brunch more often! It is so fun.

    During Brunch we started talking about years ago when Diana and I put on a birthday bash. My band played and Diana spun records!  Here’s a blast from the past picture from that show. I can’t believe I still have the handbill. I feel so different now… I feel like I’ve gone to Italy, India, Bali and back (even tho I haven’t, lol)

    Nowadays, we still enjoy a good rock show, but we’ve also incorporated things into our lives like meditation at Buddhist temples, yoga and Sunday Brunch:)
