  • Ok! LET’S DO THIS!!! “By “this”, I mean BLOG baby BLOG! haha

Woke up at the crack of dawn to hit up the Coquitlam Farmers Market.

Apparently, we can’t afford travel coffee mugs, we took our java to go in our regular mugs…. (I must have inherited this from my mother, step foot in her car and she has regular mugs everywhere!)

Beckmann Berry Farm. Friendly, check. Fresh produce, check. Tasty, check. Best price at the market? CHECK. 5lb box of blueberries now sit in my freezer:)

I took this picture of Beets purely for my own reference… Must eat beets…maybe buy some next time? Anyone have any good RAW beet recipes?

Raspberries…now you see the few I have left…

Your gonna start thinking I’m strictly a food blog, but I’m not. Although, I just happened to attend a “Raw food for Beauty” un-cooking class at Indigo Food Cafe today.

Upon arriving the cafe was very inviting.

Owner of Indigo Food, Lovena Galyide used to be an architect. She discovered Raw Food and became so passionate about it, she quit her job and opened up a raw food cafe in Vancouver on 16th Street. She really knows her stuff too. I am a hard sell, lol, but I was following her every word..

I was going to pick up this guitar and serenade everyone during the class, but I decided to stay hush.

LADIES! IF YOU WANT HEALTHY, GLOWING SKIN, incorporate these foods into your diet:

    - Aloe Vera Juice (the yellow leaves taste a trillion times better than the green. But use green for skin!), Nettles, Arugula, Watercress, Burdock Root, Turmeric, Coconut, Cucumbers, Durian, Figs, Hemp Seeds and Oils, Macadamia nuts, Pumpkin Seeds, Radish, Olives, Onion and Papaya.

The first skin elixor we tasted was orange, papaya and aloe vera juice. Tasty. No issues here.

Add bottled aloe vera juice to your morning juice/shakes if you can’t get aloe vera fresh.

lily of the desert aloe vera juice

Another Beauty Tonic. This was made with Burdock power, Apples, and celery. I need to get my hands on some burdock root (not for taste, but for health benefits)

We got into some raw fermentation of coconut. I was not a fan. I know the probiotics are good for you, but I don’t like the taste of fermented coconut, no matter how much agave you add!

    fermented coconut yogurt

I will start drinking coconut water though… more to come on that!

Here we have dehydrated kale chips. yum. Remember I used to bake them all the time? I’m not against baking at all, but if they taste just as good dehydrating- why not save some nutrients? So I actually have a batch in my oven (which has a dehydration feature- OMG- score!)

    nutritional yeast dehydrated kale chips

Add arugula and watercress to your salads!! It is fabulous. Also on our plate was raw falafels (made with pumpkin seed and a million other things, I couldn’t write everything down fast enough- but I still want to get the recipe)

    raw falafel, arugula salad

Durian. A fruit I hear all about- but never try… These ones were dehydrated. Apparently amazing for skin.

Again, I learnt a ton today. I am becoming more passionate about raw foods everyday.  Day 7 of my raw food celebration and I am feeling FANTASTIC!!!  At 8pm I still felt the same amount of energy I had when I hopped out of bed this morning. It really is amazing how this lifestyle makes you feel! I can’t wait to continue this…and learn more along the way..

OK Painter picture of the day… He looks like a sleeping angel sent from heaven… BUT………

He is TROUBLE IN DISGUISE…  (I’m telling ya!)

I love him soooo much though. It hasn’t even been a month and I am so obsessed, so in love.

How is your long weekend going? I got a voice gig for a “teenager” spot that I will voice tomorrow. Do all these health foods for skin make your voice younger too? Apparently. tee hee

Talk soon!!! Lots of love and light and beautiful skin!!!

The only thing about the “eat” part of the day is that I am on Day 6 my Raw Food challenge Celebration and while Mike is taunting my by saying, “Don’t you just wish Swedish Berries were raw?”

I enjoyed my Raw Trail Mix…trail mix, raw food, explorer 200 walmart, buntzen lake vancouver

I lined it up on my dingy to see how long it would sit there until- it either fell, or some crazy bird came and attacked us for it.

  • Hello!!

This is a moment only dreams are made of…haha.

When we checked into Ocean Resort last weekend, I found out I had a massage that same evening. We were in kind of a rush to make it to the first Raw Gourmet Dinner, so I quickly changed. I was wearing a g-string, but I wanted to put on granny undies since I was going in for the massage. (No masseuse wants to see my romping cheeks) So I put on my granny undies, but when I pulled up my pants, I guess my g-string hung on!!!!!

    HOW EMBARRASSING!!!

    g-string hanging out of pants

Even funnier is that Mike was filming for a video we are making and he didn’t even notice… (unless he’s really just evil and I don’t know it, lol)
I walked in and met a table full of people I didn’t know.

Here’s a shot of the room minus the people.

    beautiful ocean resort

I was also getting up to take my plate to the window so I could get better lighting for pictures.

Half avocado with salsa and raw cracker

I didn’t notice it until way after dinner when I was in the spa about to get my massage. I was like, “what the?” Then it all came together when Mike and I were going through the footage we took and THERE IT WAS! WOW….. I mean, I’ve had a sock hanging out of my pant leg before- but NEVER a g-string out of the back of my jeans!! That is one for the books.
I’m sorry if that was TMI, but I had to share… Life is to short not to laugh these things off!

As for more subdued blog material, today was Day 4 of my Raw Food Challenge Celebration. I am going for 30 days!  Some people ask me, so what do you have to do to be 100% RAW? I was reading choosingraw.com today and Gena, the blog’s author says it best,

“I’m not 100% raw and don’t aspire to be: my goal is to get a wide array of nutrients from as many delicious, plant-based sources as I can. Exclusively raw diets work for some people, but many others find them either nutritionally or psychologically limiting. I do, however, believe that most people can experience tremendous health benefits from adding more raw food to their diets. The title of my blog, then, evokes a lifestyle that encourages us to eat “close to nature,” and and encourages to make choices every day that emphasize raw food.”

Well said Gena. I couldn’t agree more. Everyone has there quotations and limits to what is “raw”, but really it’s what you make it. Eat as close to nature as possible. I must say though, I have been feeling great!  I miss cooked food when I make it for Mike (today I made him an omelet and then some pasta) Or when I see Mike put cream and sugar in his coffee and mine is black..

During my challenge, I am trying not to think of what I can’t have, I am trying to see all I CAN have…

    …like frozen blueberries..

    frozen blueberries as a snack

Or these lettuce wraps I threw together.

    avocado lettuce wraps

Mushed up garlic, onion, avocado, tomato, and red pepper.

    guac with red pepper

The were super quick and SUPER tasty.

    lettuce wraps with guac

That’s about all I got today! I went to a nice yoga class at the REC centre across the street and am winding down for the evening.

How was your day? Any embarrassing moments you’d like to share??? Please do!!! ;)

    xoxo

  • YOU CAN’T GET ANY WORK DONE! HAHA.

First he wants on my lap…

then he wants in the sound booth…

then he grabs his alligator and makes it squeek while I am recording…

Then he pees in the right place, so we drop everything and congratulate him so he’ll keep doing it…

Then he starts chewing on my shoes…

Then we lock him out of the office and he sits outside of it and cries!!!!

    bug puppy

Oh Painter….. Where have you been my whole life, lol…. He’s a hoot, even though he is a little trouble maker. I heart him.

It’s been a really good day, despite our happy distraction.

After voicing a bunch of stuff, I ran across the street to hit up a 5pm body sculpting class. It was a full class and the instructor was amazing. Best class I’ve done in a long time!

Here’s after the class when everyone was putting stuff away. We used the big balls, weights, steps, mats. It was the full meal deal.

Port Moody fitness classes, Port Moody REC center

I had brought along my yoga mat to do a Hatha class afterwards, but it was looking soo nice outside I just wanted to be out there. On my way out, I noticed the gym had a Zumba class just starting!! My mom swears by Zumba and does it ALL the time in Saskatoon.

    zumba port moody REC center

My mom is a good little dancer…I did NOT get those genes. Here me making a fool of myself at my friends wedding a few years back… I ditched my shoes and took center stage….UMMM YAAAA

I promised my mom I would try a Zumba class sometime though, so maybe I can hit one up at my REC center.

What else happened today….I made a killer green shake with kale, parsley, spinach, banana, etc….. you know the drill……It was this exact shake.

Yum! Actually in my down time the past week or so, I have been exploring the world of RAW food. I actually want to take a few local courses….maybe even become a certified RAW food Chef….. CRAZY or what?  My dear friend Chris Kendall is part of a big live food movement, I was lucky enough to interview him. Personally I don’t think I’d ever be 100% Raw. I like red wine and bread too much, but I am really intrigued by the idea that when you eat “live foods”, you are eating “live enzymes”.

For example…. Take 2 almonds… 1 that is raw, 1 that is roasted. Put them both in some good soil in the earth….The raw almond can sprout and grow into a massive almond tree. The roasted almond is dead…no enzymes or life left to it. So, think about those 2 things in your body. The raw almond will give you so much more good energy than the roasted……

Am I right or am I right????

On a lighter topic, I will leave you with how I sound before I warm up my voice in the morning!!!!

Better get at those tongue twisters, tongue trills and la, la, la’s!!!!

    THE PLAN!

    Hello!

    Monday madness begins….

So in yesterdays post, I told you I was going to check out a relationship seminar. I promised I would come back with feedback on the seminar….I can say this….my friends are really good at drawing…..

    amazon women

    rainbows and unicorns

cool kids at the back of the class...

Honestly, I had fun because my friends… are…well…funny! But I don’t think we learned much…..

    Moving on to THE PLAN

Did you read my recent post about making new health and fitness goals? Hopefully you did and you are ready to rock right along with me! Since a new season is among us, it is time to change things up and challenge ourselves.

    I have got my plan!!

I am going to religiously follow the P90X plan
I have already watched the first dvd that explains the workouts

He’s got some bad makeup in the video, lol

and today I start with the back and shoulders dvd and mark everyday I complete on my P90X calendar:

This will be completely filled in over the next 3 months!

I am not really into the P90X eating plan, so I am going to follow eating habits (which I have already been doing)
    in these amazing books:

Eating Clean and The Thrive Diet ROCK!

My workouts are going to be done in the early mornings, I want to be done my training by 7am, so I can get ready for auditions. (they start right around 7am) I am also going to incorporate morning jogs once and a while because I love fresh air and nature, it really gets ya going…

I am doing this for me,  of course, but I also want to inspire you! It is so important to live healthy lives. I have already noticed such a difference on just the few steps I have taken in this positive living direction, and look forward to continuing on..

Like I wrote in my highschool year book, “Take pride in how far you have come, Have faith in how far you will go.”

Peace out my brothers and SISTERS….have an awesome day!
