  • Hey friends!

    Hope your having a glorious weekend. I’ve been getting my “raw on”, as I am taking a raw food instructor course.

    Question. Which animal in nature do we most resemble? Dogs? no. Bears? no. Snakes? no. Cougars? no (except I have a bit of cougar in me since Mike is 7 years younger than me…shhh)

    The animal we most resemble is a gorilla. (or chimps, monkeys, etc)

    Gorillas become big, strong, beautiful creatures by eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

    I believe nature has everything we need to become strong, vibrant, healthy beings. Nature doesn’t supply us with Ritz crackers, cream cheese, or chicken wings. That is not to say that these foods don’t TASTE good, because they do… but the more we can base our diets on the abundant live foods mother nature naturally supplies us with- the better. For the earth and ourselves!

    The transition off cooked foods is freaking hard! Trust me, I am still in the process, but I do know the way I feel on raw foods is like none other, so the closer I can stick to that, GREAT!

    The beauty about raw food is the endless things we can “cook” to make them look and taste like our traditional ways of eating.  I am in the middles of my Raw Food Instructor course and I am LOVING all the things I am learning to prepare to make this transition even easier!

    I didn’t get a chance to take as many pictures as I would have liked to today, but check out this raw pizza we made!!!

    In a nutshell (pun intended) this is how it’s made:

    CRUST:  flax seeds, sprouted buckwheat, red peppers, carrot, celery, garlic..

    CHEDDAR CHEESE: pine nuts, macadamia, sunflower seedsm lemon, garlic, nama shoyo, red pepper…

    MARINARA: tomatos, parsley, dates, etc….

    TOPPINGS: whatever fresh veggies your heart desires.

    We are dehydrating this bad boy overnight, so it will be ready by lunch tomorrow. WOOT WOOT

    Anyone that knows me, knows my obsession with mexican food…so having a mexican option like this is unreal. With the tortilla shells you can also make chips! Imagine..making your own raw chips with fresh salsa and guacamole… (if only tequila were raw….haha)

    We had fresh lemon and Goji Berries in our water… Goji is known as the “longevity fruit.” Its unique master molecule polysaccharides and powerful antioxidants fight against free radicals that cause damage on the body.

    2 must have items that are now on my shopping list are:

    Coconut Sugar…

    and Vanilla Bean Powder..
    Another thing I am going to be all about now is Coconut water and then using the “meat” to make coconut cream pie! I promise within the next couple weeks I will do a video on how to break these nut heads open and reap the rewards!

    As I’m sure you can tell I am inspired. The Raw Food Foundation is great and I am really loving it. The studio is in the heart of Coal Harbour/downtown van.

    It was kind of a rainy day so a perfect day to be inside learning! If you are just learning about Raw Foods and want an amazing place to start… watch this green shake video

    How art thou? Good! Good to hear how wonderful you are;)

    When our dog is quiet…. you know he’s up to no-good. When I’m busy working away, I finally notice how quiet it is, I’m like “uh oh- trouble!” No matter how much I puppy proof, I end up leaving something random in puppy hemisphere by accident, and the result is usually not good!

    Hence, my most recent library book!! Bad Pups!

    It’s a pretty good book though. Port Moody public library- can I keep it? haha. I might have to!

    My goodness.
    I have new bloopers for you from a voice project I did yesterday. Oh man, I am a geek (I guess you already know that!)

    I’m happy to say I finally made it through this project! It was actually really long. Took a long time! AND it was on my worst subject EVER- MATH!

    I went out for another meeting today and they still haven’t fixed up our garage door. It just hangs down and if you have a truck/suv- you need 2 people to get through. 1 to drive and one to hold it open. You can use the other entrance, but that is a hassle too! Get this fixed….

    AND MY BIG NEWS OF THE DAY IS……….

    I signed up for my Raw Food Chef Certification!!!!! I can’t believe it, but I did it. It was $1200, here is where I’m doing it:  http://rawfoodfoundation.org/

    SO I will soon be teaching MY OWN class! That is the plan. I want to share the love.

    I want to make things like this that look as good as they taste…

    I’m pumped. I’ve become really passionate about this- obviously and I can’t wait to share this journey with you!

    Tomorrow is my 1 year BLOG ANNIVERSARY!! Holy Moly- 1 year already!!! I can’t imagine my life now without this lil blog….

    How ya doing???

    Day 2 of my Raw Food “Celebration!” I will get onto how I am feeling about that in a minute-But first off, my big excitement was recording in a studio today that was not my own! (nothing against my beautiful little magical sound booth) but check this place out, Woot Woot.

    I got a gig as a character named “Charlotte” for some animation stuff Telus is doing. There are 5 characters and I am the leader of the pack!

    While I was recording, the producer would play back the other voice talents lines, so I could get a feel for the energy and how to throw my lines out. It would be even cooler if the voice talents were actually there int he room with me, but I am not that big-time….yet;)

    The owner Paul, was kind enough to give me a tour of the place. Michael Buble recorded his first breakout album here.

    They record a lot of tv and film scores here, as well as musicians. I could really get used to recording here. They say if it all goes well, this spot will be recurring and I will visit it a lot more. I am crossing my fingers! I felt confident in there today. All the years of practice, I actually feel like a pro when I’m recording, like I belong!!!

    After I was done, I went downtown to see a friend I haven’t seen in a looooong time. Her name is Chelsea, she is an occupational therapist and former PRO beach volleyball player. She is spending the summer in Vancouver and it was glorious to catch up with her.

    One thing I noticed as I was tooling around downtown was the barge for the fireworks at English Bay. Last summer we had a spectacular view of the fireworks from our downtown apartment.

    Everytime the fireworks were on, we had friends over to enjoy them with us!

    I admit when I saw the barge out in the water, I missed our old apartment, but it’s ok, I am soooooooooo happy with where we are right now.

    Onto Day 2 of my Raw Food Celebration. Going good, going good. The only time I was really needing girth was when I came home from downtown, I needed an IV of Raw foods in me, pronto!

    Some of the raw Food I consumed today- 2 bananas for breakfast, brought an apple and a bag of carrots on the road with me, black iced coffee when I met Chelsea, watermelon and cherries when I came home and a big salad for dinner with a whole avocado, sunflower seeds, cucumber, red pepper, tomato, romaine lettuce, and lemon juice and dill as a dressing (I did NOT like the dressing!!!)

    I’m excited for the Farmers Market this weekend. Mike and I are going to buy a BOX of peas, among other lush, fresh ripe fruits and veggies! Whewf, I had moments today when I thought, wow this is only day 2- but for the most part it has been easy…One day at a time….

    And tomorrow is looking like another nuts-o day, with a trip to the dentist thrown into the mix as well… Going to clean up a bit around here and get ready for tomorrow.

  • Hi!!!! I missed you since yesterday!

    As far as blogging goes, I feel like I have been a bit distracted from it over the past week or so. I wish I had more time to devote to writing and preparing posts, but sometimes it’s just what’s going on and I gotta roll with it.

    I decided to buy a 6 month pass 1 month pass at the REC centre across the street from us to try out their classes. They have some good classes including spin, bootcamp, boxfit, yoga and more. I went to a Cardio-Boxerfit class tonight. It was pretty good. I really like the energy of working out with a group. (and sometimes a solo run hits the spot too) I copy and pasted the schedule by my desk and I will pick my classes daily.

    I also got groceries today…man, we had nothing in the house! You guys know me by now, I am definitely not flawless with my eating habits, but I do take pride in eating lots of fruits and veggies. I am trying to eat even more these days. My body needs ‘em.

    We got fresh beans, peas, cherries, broccoli, spinach, oranges, strawberries, cucumbers, parsley, kale, peppers, nectarines,

    Olives, bananas, rice crisps, seasame crisps, salsa, lemons, honey, pecans, cashews, eggs, almonds… (red meat for Mike- not pictured:)

    Phewf, I think that’s it! lol We spent $131

    How to train your dog…I took every book on it I could find. I also got a book on Raw food. That stuff intrigues me. Remember that cool interview I did with Raw foodist Chris Kendall? He was just in Vancouver, so he was top of mind this week. He’s a very cool guy. I love how passionate he is about his raw lifestyle. (not an easy thing to do…)

    Other things I got up today were a ton of auditions, 2 jobs, filled out a lot of papers, and did a makeup consultation for a bride I am doing makeup for this weekend!
