  • Hello!

Today I went exploring outside for an episode of The Nature of Things with Amanda Suzuki. Hauling my camera around “ain’t no big thang”… but it’s still kind of a obstacle, especially with a crazy dog.

The annoyance factor gets REALLY high when you go to take your first award winning shot and the memory card is sitting back in your computer at home. BOO.

    Well, thank goodness for iphones….

I took Painter on a big stroll around the neighbourhood. It was such a beautiful day.

    old orchard park

Our stroll through the park turned into a mud slopping, sand kicking, rock hopping good time!

    bug puppy water

Ha, He was trying to catch the water splashes with his mouth. cute

After a good Kilometre running along the muddy shoreline. My dog was wet, tired and DIRTY!

As soon as I got home, he was thrown into the bath…

It’s been a good weekend. I have relaxed quite a bit these last 2 days, which is great. I am usually go, go, go. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately and am trying not to get too stressed out….Of course the wedding plans have been a big brain space filler, and my upcoming surgery next week is another weird force that fills up your brain with too much thinking.

Thoughts in my head about my surgery:

    -why am I even worried?

-what if they find something really bad?

    -why did I get this?

    - am I feeling sorry for myself?

-what right do I have even feeling bad for one second when so many others are going through way worse?

-I know I need to eat a plant based diet, but sometime I just don’t want to care about what I eat?

-how will this change my life?

-I want to have kids, but maybe not right this second, but if I don’t do it this second will it be too late?

-is this even a big deal?

And on and on and on…

To the right of my computer I have an oracle card that states I am a powerful healer, but then my appointment card hits me in the face, I try to remind myself that this VERY MOMENT, is all that counts. Yoga is good.

Hmmmm….as Gwen Stefani says…”I’m just a girl in the world….”

In non-emotional news I also went to Costco today. We have a HUGE family of 2 humans plus 1 dog to feed, so we NEED a Costco card, haha…

    Anyway…I picked up some nuts..

    What? Nuts in the fridge?

    kirkland walnuts, almonds

Yep. Something I have learned in the last 6 months is that we should keep our nuts in the fridge. They do go bad just like any other perishable food. So I fill my handy mason jars for my day-to-day use and I keep the fat bag of nuts in the crisper…

    keeping nuts in the fridge

Tomorrow I am thinking Brownies with the walnuts and almond milk with the almonds! OW!

I got 2 boxes of the arugula/spinach mix of greens. Making green smoothies all week baby!

I wish I could have got local greens, but these California greens will work.
    costco arugula spinach greens
And some “sulfite flavoured” olives, lol… costco olives
And a lifetime supply of cotton pads.costco cotton pads

We got some other stuff too, I just can’t remember….

Anything exciting happen for you over the weekend? Fill me in!

Oh, and here’s to a kick ass week filled with pure potential!!!

    xo

  • Hey!!

How are you? Excited it’s Friday? I know I am!!! OHHH YA! It’s supposed to be a nice one too.

They say you are most like the top 5 or 6 people you spend the most time with. So it’s our best interests to spend time with those whom we admire and aspire to be.

That’s why, when I get a chance to be in the presence of successful, passionate, creative, kind and supportive people- I chomp at the bit because those are all attributes I aspire to be.
Last night a big hitter in the Canadian scene was speaking at a very local restaurant (like across the street from my apartment!). His name is George Moen, he is the president of Blenz coffee, among a gazillion other businesses.
It was fabulous to get out and network in my new city and get a chance to listen to George’s wise words. He basically said things that I have heard before, but it is always awesome to hear them from someone else’s perspective.

George’s in his own words (Georgemoen.com)

    “Pursue Your Passion

  • Work at something you’re passionate about.
  • Don’t do something just because you can.
  • There’s no point in doing something if you don’t love it.
  • Become an expert.
  • Work to a Plan

  • Think big, but …- Develop a detailed plan and a budget. Avoid overwhelming yourself.
  • - Focus on 3 to 4 specific goals for a year. Monitor your results quarterly.
  • Once one goal is complete, add the next
  • Have a Mission

  • You need to have a Mission Statement to be “On Mission”.
  • Act out your Mission Statement.
  • “On Time, On Budget, On Spec”
  • If you say you will, you’d better.
  • Fail Forward

  • Do it rough until you do it well.
  • Don’t be afraid to fail.
  • Businesses fail … People don’t.
  • Pursue a Debt-Free Life

  • Debt is an anchor.
  • Put away the chequebook.
  • If you knew how it felt to be debt-free, you’d work harder!
  • Diversify

  • Develop multiple streams of income.
  • Always Be A Student

  • Read.
  • Network.
  • Be a great listener.
  • Embrace Change.
    - The only constant is change.
    - Only pursue change if there’s a clear and obvious benefit.
  • Develop discipline.
  • Network

  • Find genuine support.
    - No one can win alone.
  • Team with like-minded people
    …to amplify your efforts.
  • Surround yourself with a great virtual team.
    - Virtual Teams are the structure of the future.
  • Network without expectation
    - Your Network is your Net Worth.
  • Don’t grow a hero complex.
  • Mentor

  • Give some of your time and effort to someone else.
  • You’re only as good as what you give.
  • This is something you can do just because you can.
  • Never, Never, Never Quit”

Holy great advice hey???? MAN! I love it. Thank you George for your wisdom and inspiration.

If you have people in your life that are non-supportive or holding you back, it’s hard to do- but maybe now is the time to release them? Life is to short to waste it spending time with people who are negative, jealous, and unsupportive.

OK! enough serious talk. TIME FOR MY HAUL! HA.
I went to Sephora this morning and brought back some goods.

nars, evian, laura mercier and mua

Holla! Look at all that Gold! If you are going to buy Laura Mercier’s famour tinted moisturizer, may I recommend just getting the kit? It’s $25 more, but you get the AWESOME concealer, brushes, primer, powder puff. <3laura mercier tinted foundation kit

Then I got Makeup Forever’s HD foundation in #128

I got it in a shade darker because I know I am going to tan. So for now, I will use it as a contour foundation. Check out this video to learn how to contour your foundation. You can use powders too to contour!

Next up, I got the Lavanilla rollerball perfume. I totally copied Jenny Fletcher who was June’s feature Tomboy That Wears Makeup of the Month. In our interview she said she liked it- I smelt it and fell in love!lavanilla rollerball

Had to pick another of my favourite blush ever.

    orgasm blush

    Gotta love the name, haha.

And last but not least, I got some Evian water sprays to throw in my *new* purse as a refresher. (new purse below)

Here is the new super inexpensive purse I got at H&M. $15 and will do the trick for now. As long as it holds my camera, I am good!

    Here was breakfast. Nice hey?

And that’s all she wrote folks! I am smiling LOTS today. Mike had a good meeting at Stormtech, wine festival in Osoyoos next weekend. Just feeling blessed for a lot of things.

Love you mom- have a good weekend camping (trailering) and call me Sunday.

    Talk soooooooooooooooon. Happy weekend…..

  • A quote that made me cry today:

“Mothers are God’s guarantee that you’ll always have a friend”

Happy Mother’s Day! It has been a good one here. My mom and I signed up for a 5km Mothers day run in Port Moody. This was my mom’s first race ever (and no she didn’t even train). She is very fit regardless. She is an aqua fit instructor, golfs like crazy and tear’s up the floor at Zumba classes.

I lent my mom my Stormtech XBR-1 for the race- looks good on her! Mom wasn’t sure how to fuel for the race. She went with half a banana. I suggested a gel pack- but she wasn’t into that.

We made our way down to the soccer field where the race was starting. Mike got a shot from our condo, while we were down there.

Mom was nervous. We got her race bib pinned up.

I knew she would complete the race- I just didn’t know how long it would take us to get through it.

Here we are at the Start Line, and we’re off!

We kept a really nice pace. I was soo impressed with mom.

It was great because we went through terrain that got me more familiar with my BEAUTIFUL new home.

Um ya… I love Port Moody.

Mom didn’t talk much, so I did the talking. “Keep it up mom, your doing great, you can do it. Pump your arms on the hills.”

We hit the 1st km, 2km, ALL THE WAY to 2.5km before Dar needed a lil water break.

Thanks to the man at the turn around point for offering to take a picture. I didn’t want mom to get to comfy though- we still had 2.5km to go.

We rounded the half way point and kept on trucking. At this point, mom still ran 75% of the last 2.5km, but took teeny walk breaks here and there. I told her our goal was to pass this woman in front of us..

“Come on mom, let’s git er, let’s pass her!”

Mom didn’t say much, but she kept on running. 1km to go!!!

I told her this is where she needs to pour it on. 1km to go and then we can rest. I said, “I know how tired you are but this is the time to push it.” I think she was getting annoyed at me by this point, but she didn’t give up.

I was sooooooo proud of her! She crossed the finish line in an unofficial time of 40 minutes!

    YAY!!!

Some of the best advice my mom has given me over the years:

    - Every day take a risk. (even if it’s just smiling at a stranger)

    - Be your own hero.

-No matter what you go through in life- it happens for a reason and it always builds character.

Love you mom. All the moms got flowers as they crossed the line.

The food spread after the race was the yummiest I have ever seen!

Even Cupcakes?? I’m doing this race every year!

Mom got a well deserved complimentary massage to round out the event!

It sure has been a memorable Mothers Day. The only thing that could make it better is if my brothers were here… maybe next year they’ll come out!

I hope you’re having a fantastic day! Soooo much love and light to you all!

    xoxo

  • Hello!!!!

OOOOOO MAN… I came to a local restaurant to upload pics and do a proper blog and lo and behold- I forgot the chip reader for my camera. SOOO.. the only photos I have are cell phone pics… Should be up and running tomorrow.

The move was absolutely exhausting. I feel hungover just from the move alone. We hauled A$$ for almost 24 hours straight. YES, yes, yes, I learnt a lesson. I am as tough as wonder woman, but sometimes I should just give it up to professionals. We are swimming amongst boxes and random stuff everywhere… but at least.. we are here… all moved in.

HA- I found this old poster of me when I modeled for Tonic (in Saskatoon)tonic saskatoon

I took a picture of it and threw it away.

THIS picture was taken from bed when I woke up this morning!!

One of my favorite things about our new place is that we will never, ever, ever have to close the blinds. All light- all the time. I love it.

I love how some people think Port Moody is soo far away. Yes it is outside of downtown Vancouver.. But it is not that big of a deal. It’s not like the time I moved from Los Angeles, CA TO North Battleford, SK. Now THAT was a big difference, and I loved both places for different reasons (ok- maybe LA a bit more)

But I can see the beauty in both. Port Moody however is the perfect place for me at this time in my life. I am sooo happy with the long thought out decision to call this place home.

I will still frequent downtown! I have a wine tasting event in Yaletown tomorrow night! But this oasis in the little mountain village is a freaking amazing place to come home to!

Woo Hoo. Sorry about the ghetto cell phone pics. I have Tomboy That Wears Makeup Of The Month coming tomorrow!! (she is a gem, a gem I say!)

Have a wonderful Sunday Funday and stay classy!

    xoxoxo

  • Happy Thursday…Week is flying!

Hope your doing well. Set any goals yet? (re: yesterday’s post:) I went for a 5km run this morning and I anxiously await my P90X

Ahhh, yes…my latest obsession….is…..looking at apartments on Craigslist (I told you it wasn’t exciting)

I have been thinking about how nice it would be to have more space, a second bedroom to make a proper studio (right now our living room/dining room is our studio/office- not very feng shui). And, I have been cooking my non processed foods lately too, so a bigger/newer kitchen would be amazing…. (right now our kitchen is tiny, not even a dishwasher!) and maybe we even get a lil puppy!!

However..the upside of where we live. We are right across the street from the beach, In English Bay, one of the most beautiful places on earth! This is our view:

We live right downtown, everything is walking distance. What should we do? Either we stay and deal with the space, or move somewhere, not to far away, that has hiking trails, water nearby  (we are getting kayaks soon!) and  big luxury condos. (Port Moody actually looks REALLY nice) Hmmm, not sure though…In the meantime, I will try to keep my craigslist obsession at bay….I need to stay focused.

I have been really trying to get the editing done on this big project we have due. Usually Mike edits, but we are under such a time constraint that I have been picking up the slack. This is the screen I look at all day

    Fun , Fun eh? :)

So ya, my day today consists of editing and auditions.  I always have very interesting auditions that keep me on my toes. Today my scripts were everything from  Macular Degeneration spots on eyes…to a Strip Club in Myrtle Beach…haha, first I’m an educator and moments later, I am a stripper! OWWWW!

This morning while auditioning I had a lil spaz on Michael. He is such a sweetheart, always so positive and he nicely asked my to re-do a line and I got mad at him. Funny thing is, when we fight while working, the whole thing gets recorded!! Listen to me bark at him:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

“is that ok your highness?” lol

I love him very much, I do. Sorry Michael!

Hope you are having a great day! Nice one here in Van city. Let me know about new goals you have set for yourself! I already have one reader who I will be featuring as she has also set a 3 month fitness goal for herself!! Great things to come.
