  • Hello!

How was your Sunday???!!! When I awoke this morning, I was surprisingly NOT sore at all from yesterday’s race. I obviously wasn’t pushing hard enough. I know I could have ran most of it, but since I haven’t really trained for trail running up a mountain, I took the whole thing very easy. I would LOVE to train for it and actually really give it next year!

Here was me eager and DRY yesterday morning before the race.ready for seek the peak 2011

I got to Ambleside pretty early so I could pick up my race pack and stretch and sit in the car trying to stay dry until the race started.

As soon as the race started, Kelli and I were basically soaked!

Did I finish the race? I had my head cam with me and I made a little video.. Watch to find out if I actually crossed the finish line;)

YAY! That was fun. The viking in me came out and got me through it…haha

I must say I have had a really fantastic weekend (despite the rather drab weather). How about that thunder last night??? My puppy Painter was NOT liking it!

How was your weekend???? Do fill me in!! Highlights??

  • Yep, that’s right- I just created my own triathlon. Run, Swim and Spa:)

I woke up at 6:30am, and made it to The Right Shoe by 8am for a 60 minute run with the half marathon group. Nice thing about The Right Shoe is that they have drop in sessions for all of their training sessions, so my friend Jaclyn came and ran with us!

drop in session at the right shoe

Jaclyn and I went to high school together. The great thing is- when I see her- I never have to explain myself. Like who I am, what I’m about….The fact that, yes I am crazy, but I have a heart of gold. She just gets me. I see her, give a high five and away we go…

Jaclyn is thinking about joining my triathlon club… I’m not trying to be pushy or persuasive. But…DO IT!! lol!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!  The first week is the most intimidating, you don’t know anyone, (except me) or how hard it is going to be, etc. After the first week, you get in a groove. You get in a flow and it’s almost like an addiction- a positive one mind you. I crave the training now. My life has never felt more on track than it has in the last 3 weeks. No joke. I feel unstoppable. In my training, my career and my life.

Jaclyn is an all-star cyclist, so she could teach me a thing or 2…or 3… or 4….

I heart you Jaclyn and am soo proud of all you’ve accomplished. Career wise, MBA wise, life wise and athletic wise;)

After our run, I drove home, (I drove to save time because I have a super busy day) put my bathing suit on and went down to my pool for 30 laps. In my schedule game plan, we were to work on drills during the swim, so I incorporated some finger drags and superman flutters.

Then I jumped in the shower and made my way to The Absolute Spa at Century City. It is my good friend Andrea’s birthday tomorrow, so we started today with a SPA day. Here is a photo of my facebook status

Yeeeeep! It has been that fun. The strawberries were chocolate covered btw. I think girl spa days are a must. It was such a blast. I had cucumbers on my eyes tooo

I will get into more details tomorrow. We are on our way to dinner at Coast, I have curlers in my hair and need to get some makeup on.

Hope your weekend has been great. Talk to you sooon! I heart you!!

  • Hello there!

This is a happy, positive blog, but I briefly have 2 complaints….

I rushed to Long and McQuade music store last night to get a desk top mic stand before they closed. I got home and opened up the box and it is missing a bunch of pieces….

Looks like a metal plunger!!  That’s all that was in the box. What the heck am I going to do with that???? GRRRRR

Then last night, I went to Whole Foods to willingly pay $700 for a head of lettuce just because it is organic and good for me. The cashier put my lettuce at the bottom of the bag and pilled cans and stuff on top. Not only did my $700 lettuce get crushed- on my way to my vehicle the handle ripped off the bag because it was packed too heavy and the groceries fell to the ground…

Here’s a picture I took when I was still happy and the food was sliding down the belt:)

    food from wholefoods vancouver

Things in my overstuffed grocery bag:

very expensive overpriced frozen blueberries, to add to my:
    Steel cut oats
    Amy’s Soup
Soup Broth to make my own veggie soup….ohhhhh
    frozen veggies (peas, brocoli, spinach)
    chick peas
    black beans
pitted dates, dried cranberries and nuts to make my own energy bars
    firm tofu
    “crushed lettuce”
    some other veggies
    pirates booty (fun snack)
rice cakes (I’m gonna make my own almond butter so I need something besides apples to put my butta on!
Mustard (I wanna make veggie burgers as soon as I have time)

My first grocery shop of the year was a success. Now…If I can only eat this good all year….lol

See….now I’m happy…talked through my frustration and we are moving on!

It is DAY 1 of my triathlon training today. I got 7 downloads from my coach Lara, including my training schedule, hydration and nutrition tips, a breakdown on training zones and intensities- (which will be good, and challenging for me because I only have one intensity level- SLOW.)

My swim this morning was 4 x 250m at a light intensity. I calculated how far that is in my dinky pool- 48 COMPLETE LAPS! WOAH.

I did it! 48 laps this morning. Took me about an hour.  (hot pic I know…)

I am ALSO running today with the club at 6pm, it’s our first run together (we are not wasting ANYTIME getting into this program, lol)

I will most likely start doing 2 posts per day now. One will be just a regular ol post and the other will be a training diary of some kind. I made a new triathlon training link, so follow along- heck even join in. There is still time!

After the swim, I came upstairs ravenous- I invented a new shake! I call it:

    48 LAPS

    frozen berries
    frozen spinach
    half of a frozen banana
    Vega Powder
    freshly squeezed lemon and oj

    Blend and Serve!

Here’s me layering the frozen berries and spinach (first time I have EVER put spinach in a shake)

Then added half a frozen banana and the Vega

Next up I squeezed some lemon and OJ into it (you could use any juice- the fresher the better!)

Add some water and BLEND ER UP And VOILA, the “48 Laps” is ready to inhale!

It tastes delicious and I feel GREEEAAAAT. (take that Tony the Tiger- Meow!)

How is your year going so far? Any grocery store shopping adventures?

I better get onto some work! Hope all is well in your world! Talk sooooooon:)

    Amanda

  • Me having a big resolutions list is probably not a big surprise to you.. ha..

I know some real dedicated people out there don’t make New Years Resolutions- because they live their best life continuously and don’t feel the need for a big list of resolutions… I, on the other hand, am a dedicated cat, but I definitely have let things go over the holidays. I find the holidays are a big (happy) interruption…

Everything gets thrown outta wack and January is a perfect time to reset.  In the last couple years, I’ve hit some major goals for myself (such as becoming full time self employed this year!)
Why stop there? 2011 is going to be the best year yet. At the end of this year, I want to read over this blog post and say- yup, I did it all. I am not going to post everything on here, but I will share with you the majority of what my resolution list looks like:

    1. Complete another Olympic Distance Triathlon

    2. Complete 2 Sprint Distance Triathlon’s

    3. Do at least one half-marathon, a 10km and hike the West Coast Trail- again!

    4. Follow a Vegan, clean eating diet (as best as I can). Don’t beat me up if you see me eating nachos with cheese at the local pub! lol If you want some tips on getting started on a more plant based diet, I recommend reading this.

    5. Host or guest host a TV show

    6. Voice a major phone system like Telus, A T and T, Rogers…something BIG and recurring. (Or voice any major recurring US or Canadian National Spots!)

    7. Make over 6 figures this year with my creative endeavor$ (voice/hosting/makeup/blog)

    (whether I’m in the scene)

    (or behind the scenes)

    8. Meditate at least once per week.

    9. Continue to inspire as many people as possible and keep putting out positive energy into the universe

    10. Get MARRIED!

The love of my life proposed at midnight on New Years Eve, I totally didn’t see it coming. I hoped that it wouldn’t be too much longer until he popped the question, but he played it off really well! It was such a perfect night, and a perfect start to 2011!

What are your resolutions?  I would love to hear what your goals are for this year!! DO SHARE!!

Don’t be afraid to dream big. YES, we don’t want to set ourselves up for failure, however:

Dreamers are the saviors of the world.

Right? And goals are just dreams with deadlines. I don’t always hit my goals at the time I set for that particular goal, however I keep pushing on, because I feel that the person I become in pursuit of my dreams is just as important as achieving the dreams themselves. Shoot for the moon and ya might land among the stars….

    Here’s to 2011!

    I believe in you!

    xoxo

PS. I am on day 2 of a 3 day juice cleanse. I have been drinking the green shake. I’ll give you an update tomorrow.

    THE PLAN!

    Hello!

    Monday madness begins….

So in yesterdays post, I told you I was going to check out a relationship seminar. I promised I would come back with feedback on the seminar….I can say this….my friends are really good at drawing…..

    amazon women

    rainbows and unicorns

cool kids at the back of the class...

Honestly, I had fun because my friends… are…well…funny! But I don’t think we learned much…..

    Moving on to THE PLAN

Did you read my recent post about making new health and fitness goals? Hopefully you did and you are ready to rock right along with me! Since a new season is among us, it is time to change things up and challenge ourselves.

    I have got my plan!!

I am going to religiously follow the P90X plan
I have already watched the first dvd that explains the workouts

He’s got some bad makeup in the video, lol

and today I start with the back and shoulders dvd and mark everyday I complete on my P90X calendar:

This will be completely filled in over the next 3 months!

I am not really into the P90X eating plan, so I am going to follow eating habits (which I have already been doing)
    in these amazing books:

Eating Clean and The Thrive Diet ROCK!

My workouts are going to be done in the early mornings, I want to be done my training by 7am, so I can get ready for auditions. (they start right around 7am) I am also going to incorporate morning jogs once and a while because I love fresh air and nature, it really gets ya going…

I am doing this for me,  of course, but I also want to inspire you! It is so important to live healthy lives. I have already noticed such a difference on just the few steps I have taken in this positive living direction, and look forward to continuing on..

Like I wrote in my highschool year book, “Take pride in how far you have come, Have faith in how far you will go.”

Peace out my brothers and SISTERS….have an awesome day!

    xoxoxo
