    THE PLAN!

    Hello!

    Monday madness begins….

So in yesterdays post, I told you I was going to check out a relationship seminar. I promised I would come back with feedback on the seminar….I can say this….my friends are really good at drawing…..

    amazon women

    rainbows and unicorns

cool kids at the back of the class...

Honestly, I had fun because my friends… are…well…funny! But I don’t think we learned much…..

    Moving on to THE PLAN

Did you read my recent post about making new health and fitness goals? Hopefully you did and you are ready to rock right along with me! Since a new season is among us, it is time to change things up and challenge ourselves.

    I have got my plan!!

I am going to religiously follow the P90X plan
I have already watched the first dvd that explains the workouts

He’s got some bad makeup in the video, lol

and today I start with the back and shoulders dvd and mark everyday I complete on my P90X calendar:

This will be completely filled in over the next 3 months!

I am not really into the P90X eating plan, so I am going to follow eating habits (which I have already been doing)
    in these amazing books:

Eating Clean and The Thrive Diet ROCK!

My workouts are going to be done in the early mornings, I want to be done my training by 7am, so I can get ready for auditions. (they start right around 7am) I am also going to incorporate morning jogs once and a while because I love fresh air and nature, it really gets ya going…

I am doing this for me,  of course, but I also want to inspire you! It is so important to live healthy lives. I have already noticed such a difference on just the few steps I have taken in this positive living direction, and look forward to continuing on..

Like I wrote in my highschool year book, “Take pride in how far you have come, Have faith in how far you will go.”

Peace out my brothers and SISTERS….have an awesome day!

  • Hello!

I am especially excited to do this post today. Why? Because it is my first ever “Tomboy That Wears Makeup- OF THE MONTH”  (or in the categories, you’ll see it abbreviated TTWM of the month) .

So, what this means is that every month, (I’ll try to keep it consistent on the 1st) I will be featuring an inspiring, motivating, beautiful (inside and out) positive female. One who can be a role model for us, one who we may  get some sound advice from, or maybe one who motivates us to do the things we know in our hearts we can do. And, it could be someone who just makes you smile. Whatever you get out of it is great.

    Drum roll please….

Introducing Liis Sober. I had the opportunity to meet Liis a while back and just recently I did her make up for  a photo shoot. As we chatted I realized how perfect she would be for this blog. Let’s chat!

1.Tell us a bit about yourself
I am from Estonia, moved to Finland when I was 8, moved to States when I was 19, and I have been to Vancouver for 2 and half years now. I love sports; I have played tennis since I was 8. I played competitively for most of my teen years, I played for the University of Kentucky, now I play for fun and teach as well. I love fashion, I always have. I started modeling when I was 14, I really enjoyed it but tennis was always my priority. I got my bachelors degree in Merchandising and I currently work for the talented Vancouver Designer Shelley Klassen as a director of retail operations in her flagship store Blushing Boutique (579 Richards street).

    2.What inspires/motivates you
My family inspires me and motivates me. My father is a basketball coach and he has been a coach for almost 30years now. He is inspiring to me because he has a job that he loves and is passionate about. It seems that the people who do what they love are usually the ones who are successful as well. What always gives me strength is that I know no matter what happens I can always count on my family’s support.

    3. Favorite Beauty Product? Mascara! I have short eyelashes so I find that mascara makes a big difference…makes me look like I am awake in the morning..haha

    4. What is your biggest fear?

I have no fear… I believe that everything happens for a reason and whatever comes my way will make me grow and build me stronger.

    5. What is your favorite quote
I do not know if these are quotes but they are sayings that I like: “whatever you put out there is what you get back’” and “everything happens for a reason”

    6. What is your greatest achievement?
Getting a scholarship to a division one University in the states.

    7. If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?

Since my parents, my two sisters and I live in 4 different countries I would love to get us all together for lunch.

    8. What is something about yourself people may not know?

I enjoy painting with acrylic paints.

    9. Something that makes you smile?
    Watching the sunset!

    10. Do you have a wholesome recipe you’d like to share?
Super easy Slightly spicy Lentil, barley, mushroom vegetable soup
Ingredients: 1/3 cup any lentils, 1/3 cup barley, 4-5 small potatoes, 4-5 carrots, 1 onion, 5 mushrooms, 1-2 organic vegetable broth cube(s), salt, 1 tea spoon of red curry paste, 8-9 cups of water
    Directions:
Combine in a big pot water, lentils and Barley. Bring it to boil and let it simmer for 1 hour.
Add chopped potatoes, carrots, onions as well as vegetable broth cubes and curry paste. Bring to boil and let it simmer for 25min
Add chopped mushrooms and simmer another 5-10 min.
    Enjoy!

Wow, Liis! You are a superstar and I am sooo trying that soup recipe! Thank you so much for sharing with us and I wish you continued success in your journey!

See how much fun that is? I am looking for more girls like YOU to interview and feature on this blog, so if you want to be TTWM of the month, PLEASE email me!

Enjoy your 1st day of Sept. May you all shine brightly!!!

  • Hi Hi Hi!

How has your 2010 summer been? Any crazy romances like in the musical Grease? I always dreamed of being Sandra Dee:) I don’t think those leather pants would fit me tho!  ha

Here’s some background ambience while you read this post if you so desire:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

But really, have you lived your summer up to it’s fullest potential? Sometimes I feel like I work the days away, but then I also remember a few of the cool things I have done this summer:

    My Brother got married!

Back of my uncle's head, my brother Cory and his beautiful wife Donnelly

Here is me with my nana, 2 bro’s and a few of my awesome cousins

My sweet Nana, my 2 bro's (in the yellow ties) and a few of my amazing cousins

Also, I hiked the West Coast Trail for the 2nd time:

Climbing one of the MANY ladders on the trail

I BECAME A CONE HEAD NINJA WOMAN!!

I think the smoke from the fire was bugging me, haha

6 days in the rain, mud and wilderness

Mike and I went to LA

    Norma Jean and I

I worked here for a year! At the Rainbow on Sunset Blvd.

Hiking Runyon Cannon in the Hollywood Hills

Stayed at a boutique hotel in Beverly Hills

"see how beautiful you look?" umm..nope...

    (testing out spray tanners)

We went camping at lake Cowichan

layed in the dingy's for hours

AND we had 4 fireworks parties (because we have perfect view from out apartment!)

on the balcony, waiting for the fireworks to start

all the people on the beach

    bam

    bigger bam!

Ok so here we are, a couple weeks left of summer! I really want to make the most of it!!

I think I might go down this slide, before they take it away for the summer:(

Weeeeee, down this slide I will go...before summer ends

    I DREAM BIG!! HAHA

What else? Hmmmm, I want to hike the lions, I want to hike Grouse Grind a bunch more times, I’m going to my cousins wedding in a couple weeks, a glass or two of wine on a patio would be nice .

Can you help me out? What do you want to do before summer is over?

  • Good afternoon Sunday Sweets!

Hope your weekend is going well.

I met up with a few ladies to go see new flick Eat Pray Love. I have not read the book yet, I feel bad because my friend Diana lent me the book and I left it with my mom in Saskatchewan.  (Dee, I am going to Sask in a couple weeks, so I will grab it!)

I really enjoyed the movie. The message I got and one that I truly believe is to always follow your heart, no matter how hard it seems at the time to “change” the place you are in, life is to short not too!!

I cried.. a lot..like I normally do at movies. (I cried at the new remake of Karate Kid too, ha)

Bright and early we met up for brunch. I need to do brunch more often! It is so fun.

    Diana, Andrea, me, Mel, Amy

During Brunch we started talking about years ago when Diana and I put on a birthday bash. My band played and Diana spun records!  Here’s a blast from the past picture from that show. I can’t believe I still have the handbill. I feel so different now… I feel like I’ve gone to Italy, India, Bali and back (even tho I haven’t, lol)

Check out our finger cuffs!! They were THE THING at the time!!

And now, here we are today before going in to watch the movie

Nowadays, we still enjoy a good rock show, but we’ve also incorporated things into our lives like meditation at Buddhist temples, yoga and Sunday Brunch:)

Are you going to see Eat Pray Love?
