• Hey!

How are you?? TGIF? Snow in your area? While I was laying in bed this morning, I got a text from a friend in Sask that said, “look outside – I heard you guys got snow”. So In my head I was dreaming up how I was going to get bundled up, grab the camera and start snapping. ahhhhh-not so much….outside my window this morning:

Neat low clouds tho. If it DID snow, would it kibosh the construction happening outside our window? Ohh I’d be so upset;)

We actually have signs in our building that say- “don’t mind the construction workers, they will be working through the night as well.” and YES I hear them! Oh well, guess they gotta get their work done too.

Hopefully they get the weekend off- UNLIKE ME! I told a client I would have this massive project back to him by Monday…and my producer is out of town- so it is just me-voicing and editing THIS:

LORD HELP ME! I am definitely taking BREAKS!  Such as:

    1. yoga everyday, of course

    2. At Starbucks across the nation this weekend between 2pm and 5pm it is buy 1 get 1 free on their Christmas drinks-that sounds fun- gotta take someone for coffee!

    3. Make it Vancouver is happening!! Click here for their website. It is a hip, fun, urban type craft show. With all the arts and crafts locally made. I have heard about this show for years and never went. I met the founder Jenna at the Crave event, she is a super cool girl. Her and her brother started Make It. It is now in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancity. Looking forward to it!

I hope the event also sparks my motivation to make something. I have had this desire lately to be more creative, even get “artsy”. Like paint, cook, or write a song. I know it’s hard to find the time, but I think we gotta make the time to get creative. It’s such a great release. I was reading the Crave Book and a mentor of mine is in it. Danielle LaPorte. You may notice her little square on my sidebar- The one that says “Fire Starter Sessions“.

When CRAVE asked her- “What Motivates you on a Daily basis?”
She said- “I have a note on my laptop that says: MAKE STUFF. Make art. Make visions real. Make myself really, really useful. I’m motivated to go deeper into big life questions, and to make that inquiry my service to the world. It’s pretty simple, actually: Live (fully, deeply, lightly). Speak. Write…make stuff.”

WOW. I freaking love that. So well said and so well spoken. SO what do you make?
I like to think I make stuff. But I can make more stuff. OR, make the stuff I already make better. I dunno. It just got me thinking…….

I also make signs on the laundry machine:
haha, I put that on the machine a few days ago when someone was doing laundry past midnight and their jean buttons were banging against the side of the dryer (way past laundry hours and SUPER loud.) The note was still there this morning. My neighbours hate me more now- awesome! lol oh well….

And NOW…it is time to go make $$$. I know, working can be boring sometimes, but try to not take it so serious. Just go and MAKE STUFF. simple..

    Have a fantastic weekend!

  • Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi

Alright, now that we got our hello’s out of the way…How are you today? I’m going to get right into it!

We are talking about saviours today. I have 3 for today (yes, I could dream up more but here are my 3 saviours of the day!)

    1. YOGA

Today is DAY 10 already of my 30 day yoga challenge at Semperviva. I am obsessed with the studio and when my 30 days is up, I cannot imagine not still going. Yoga helps with everything. Here is a few positive changes I have noticed since doing yoga for 10 days in a row so far:

    -my voice sounds better

    -I am more flexible

    -more relaxed

-finding it easier to visualize my goals

    -toning up

    -better breath control

You also really get to know your body, what it can do, what it can’t do and how to work on becoming more balanced.

For example, try this: Reach your arms behind you like this and try to touch your hands:

No problem, they can easily touch, now try it with the other side:

Not even close YO! WHY? From my car accident? Born that way? I wonder if yoga will fix that? Not that I really care- just weird.. Can you touch  your hands on both sides? As much as I love yoga, I enjoy a good ol workout still. Going to try to fit in a hike this weekend and also going for a run with a friend tomorrow.

    2. Dr. Wayne Dyer

Dr. Wayne Dyer is coming to Vancouver, next Tuesday. Nov.23. If you don’t know much about him, his website is www.drwaynedyer.com . I have been following him for a while now, but have never seen him LIVE! I can’t wait. I saw on facebook that ticketmaster is now taking 20% off the ticket prices. I am telling you this because I think you should go! Here is a link so you can get the deal.  This is my FAVOURITE book of his.

    And last but not least..

    Saviour #3 Tommy Europe

This guy is amazing, I am sure you have seen him on TV for the Last 10 Pound  Bootcamp and Bulging Brides. What girl hasn’t thought to herself, “Imagine being trained by Tommy?”  And now ladies- YOU CAN! He has been offering his Shred Bootcamp across Canada and he will be in Vancouver DEC.5!!! Click here for details!!! Grab some of your girlfriend’s and get motivated by the best! How can you say no to this:

Here’s Tommy in action- THAT COULD BE YOU ON THE GROUND!! LOL

Here’s a shot of Tommy with me and my momma during the olympics!

I feel blessed that Tommy had a cameo in our Olympic video, If you haven’t seen it, check it out!!
    He’s at the 1:27 mark!

Let me know if you are going to see Wayne or Tommy! I would love to hear about it.

    Have a great day!

  • Hello!

    How goes it today!!

Last night I had the privilege of attending the book release for Crave Vancouver’s 3rd Edition. They call it “The Urban Girl’s Manifesto“. Most major cities in North America have their own version of Crave.

I’ve been flipping through the book this morning and wow, what a great book- for women, by women. It’s full of resourceful information of  Vancouver’s best female businesses. Everything from Spa’s, fitness, financial planning, dog stores, fashion, baby clothes, photography, restaurants and so much more.

I really want to go to Bandidas Taqueria on Commercial Drive- mexican and vegitarian-YUM!

I also met Jennifer and Rachel, the design consultants behind A Good Chick To Know. They are not only super sweet and friendly, they are also very talented and inspiring. They are both moms (they each have a daughter- almost born on the same day!)

Andrea of Go-Lucky Photography took many of the pictures in the book.

Another one of my favourites is SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic in Yaletown

(I heard a rumour that SKN is going to be featured in Flare Magazine! Sawweeet)

Although, I personally didn’t make it in the book, my makeup skillz did! I did the makeup for Ravy and Amy from The Bombay Brow Bar. Get the best brows in Vancouver at BBB

The event was held at Canvas in Gastown

2 of my gals, who made a really good point that people in Vancity wear to much black- I am guilty of this- Love their color
    Crowd Shot
My ONLY complaint of the evening was the bartender. Yikes, sorry sir, but I tended bar for years and this is NOT how you serve a $10 glass of wine
2 ounces (equalling $5 a sip), wet glass with disgusting lipstick on it! Then, when I asked for a new glass, he just poured it into another glass. Can I say- ANNOYING?? Girls, has that ever happened to you?

HOWEVER……the CRAVE COOKIES made up for it:)

Congrats to all the women in Crave! And Best of Luck in your continued success!

My quote today is this: All the so-called “secrets of success” will not work unless you do. ~Author Unknown
(all these women obviously know that!)

    Have a great day everyone!

  • Hello!!

My my were the winds fierce here in Vancity last night- you feel that? I could not record anything, even in my sound booth the winds were going nuts! White caps galore on the ocean front. I had to bring in all the patio furniture and it was so hard to sleep! Here is what it looked like this morning, way way calmer, but still a bit windy.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m glad it’s not yesterday. I had the worst headache- like all day and I had work piled up to my throat. I spent weeks and months visualizing and attracting the workload and now- she is here! So instead of getting overwhelmed, I simply need to remember, this is what I asked for- so I am grateful.

My yoga class always makes me feel better, and the Lemon Ginger tea they had in the waiting room was so yummy(no those are not a man’s hands-they are mine)

I went to Whole Foods on the way home and got my own!

I never really considered myself a tea drinker- AT ALL.  But I am really liking this. I like Chai Tea too, and that’s about it. Can you guys convert me? What other teas should I try?

What do you think about when you drink tea? Art? Books? Smurfs?

ohhhhh guess what? I got 100 pairs of eyelashes in the mail today! It was rather exciting. I’m going to be doing a lot of makeup over Christmas for Groupon, so instead of spending $5-8 on them at the drug store, or even the $4 at the Makeup artist shop (Holly North) I bought my own from a wholesaler. They cost me about $1.75 a pair. Pretty stoked. I’m going to do an eyelash giveaway soon- so stay tuned. Also, if you aren’t great at putting eyelashes on- I can help, I will be doing a video soon on how to get them on perfectly!

I get to test these bad boys out tonight-I’m going to a party tonight for the CRAVE Vancouver book launch. Have you heard of Crave? It’s pretty cool idea. They make a book and have all of Vancouver’s best, most stylish entrepreneurs featured in it. I did makeup for some girls in the book. Crave is in a whole bunch of cities across North America. Is it in yours?

It’s fun to get dolled up for fun events. If I lived in a dream world, before going out to big events, this is what I would do:

1.Go to the gym and workout with my personal trainer/get a massage

    2.Shower/shave (duh;)

    3.Go for a spray tan

    4.Whiten teeth

5.Get my hair done by someone I trust

    6. Get a spa mani and pedi

    7. Have a stylist piece together a kick ass outfit

    8.Do my own makeup;)

    9. Open up a bottle of champagne

    10. PARTY

What would you do before going out, if you could do ANYTHING? I would also get a facial, get my eyebrows done a couple days before.

I’m gonna leave you with that today. Write out your “dream” getting ready session, make a date to do it by and make it happen. I will do the same….

    Love and light!!!

    xoxo

  • Happy Monday!
Do you like the title! YES- I was a Hooter girl…and really, I have no shame. Yes, the shorts are hideous, and it’s incredibly tacky but through that place I met a lot of great girls. Many of whom I’m still friends with today.

I was 19 years old and I had just moved to Vancouver from Saskatoon. A guy named Ed was in one of my acting classes (he was from Florida where Hooters started)..”Hey Amanda, there is a Hooter’s opening up on Robson- you’d be perfect, you should apply.” My first thought was…ohhhh that’s bad- I can’t do that. My mom would be mad at me. And also- my boobs really aren’t that big. (turns out you just need a good push up bra). So with the absolutely fearless attitude I had at that age, I walked in and was hired on the spot. So I put on the white runners, orange shorts, brown tights and tank top.

Fast forward. A beautiful girl named Sherry (whom worked there with me and whom I’m still friends;) asked me to join this singing group she was starting and without hesitation, I was all over it! We were called ‘In Bliss’

    Sherry, Lee, Becca and me

We recorded a demo and low and behold- WE GOT A RECORD DEAL. hello? I was freaking out. I was also 19. We went to “the” entertainment lawyer in the biz, Jonathan Simkin (he now owns 604 records with Chad Kroeger of Nickleback). He reviewed our deal which was from Skyline Records, a sub division of Universal and advised us not to sign. I wanted to sign that contract NO MATTER WHAT. He said, ya, you could sign it, but you are stuck for 5 years and might not make that much money and bla bla…I was just seeing stars, and they were being logical and wise!

So long story short, we didn’t sign it and not to long after “In Bliss” broke up:(

Sherry is now a country singer (we meet up for coffee from time to time<3

Becca has been living in Scottland, she now has 3 kids and sent me an email the other day saying that she is moving back to Canada. YAY.

And Lee, lives across the bridge so we got together over the weekend.
First things first…get jacked up on sugar and caffeine We talked about things happening these days in our lives. Lee has been all over the place acting in feature films and tv shows. Look for her in the upcoming film Suckerpunch. She is also in the studio finishing up some really catchy new songs. I was lucky enough to snag a sample of one of the new songs

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Good job Lee! Can I be in your music video??????

I am really proud of all my In Bliss gals and grateful for that experience in my life. I learnt a lot from these girls and sometimes wonder…what if? I have no regrets though and I know that everything happens for a reason.

Do you have things in your past that, at the time..you would have given anything for, but looking back your like…thank god I didn’t do that?

I hope you all had a great weekend! Today I am on DAY 7 of my 30 day yoga challenge. Still IN LOVE with it.

    Talk sooooooon! xoxo
