• Hey friends!!

How are you??? I honestly can’t believe it’s mid-March already. Seriously, where does the time go? It’s been almost 3 months since we’ve been in LA and I think we’ve made a few decisions…. Going back home… in a couple weeks:) I LOVE LA, I could easily set up shop and live here, but until we get a few more things sorted, Van city is the place to be!! Mike is so excited to play hockey, go camping and drink Tim’s coffee. Me? I’m excited to start taking Improv classes!!!  That is one huge thing I learnt down here, that all the successful voice actors take improv classes….

    Ha, we’ll see how I do, lol….

If you think about your BIGGEST, Wildest DREAM. What does it look like???

I’m thinking about one of my wildest dreams- it is to be UBER successful as a voice actor. To be in the top 20% of my field. I want to voice major campaigns/commercials with PHAT residuals, I want to voice a character like Barbi or My Little Pony in an on-going series, and be the promo voice on something like The Slice Network….etc… SO in order to achieve these goals, I need to work backwards from the goal. What ONE step can I do NOW that will take me step by step to my goal.

    TO DO’s for me:

Keep reading out loud everyday, Never take a job forgranted, Continue learning in my field, Work on my signature voice, Work on branding a website, Take improv classes, work hard, learn, learn, learn…..

What are your to do’s? Write em down and start today!!!

I also need to get involved actively right away… (I’m doing pilates, but I need a softball team, a volleyball team, something cool like that to add to the mix so I can blog about it, haha)

This blog has been an outlet to share such amazing things I got to do,

    Like triathlon training…

    Hiking 45km in the arctic..

    30 day yoga challenge….

Painter…. (not an activity, but kind of… I walk him everyday..lol)

    Concert reporting…

    Raw food chef certification…

    raw food, sunburgers

…And all the other craziness I’ve shared on this blog. I’m excited to see what’s next.

    What’s next for you???

My awesome cousin Nicole is doing a 30 day hot yoga challenge right now, I am SOO proud of her. I want us all to keep rocking your dreams and goals!

    Have a lovely day!!!!!

  • Happy weekend friends. wooo hooo.

Momma mia, there is a new health kick kid on the block. (Ooohh, actually it’s been around for centuries, but I am just discovering it all now..)

In my pilates class I overheard one of the girls in my class saying that she drink a bottle of Kombucha a day. I have also seen this stuff on other raw foodies websites and just heard overall that it is a good for you.

2 days ago I spotted this at Whole Foods and had to try it. To be honest, I thought I would hate it, but mmmmm, I liked it! Tastes like sparking water…

TONS of celebrities drink this stuff, but here’s where it gets weird… Lindsay Lohan’s “scram” bracelet went off for alcohol detection and she blamed it on her Kombucha since there are TRACE amounts of alcohol in this drink (it even says it on the bottle) THEN Whole Foods PULLED this product from the shelf, only to devastate many loyal consumers…

Within no time, the product was back on the shelf, Lindsay’s “people” apologized for misleading the G.T. Synergy Kombucha drink.

Here are all the things Kombucha is good for:

    *Probiotics – healthy bacteria
*Alkalize the body – balances internal pH
*Detoxify the liver – happy liver = happy mood
*Increase metabolism – rev your internal engine
*Improve digestion – keep your system moving
*Rebuild connective tissue – helps with arthritis, gout, asthma, rheumatism
    *Cancer prevention
    *Alleviate constipation
*Boost energy – helps with chronic fatigue
    *Reduce blood pressure
    *Relieve headaches & migraines
    *Reduce kidney stones
*High in antioxidants – destroy free-radicals that cause cancer
    *High in polyphenols
    *Improve eyesight
*Heal excema – can be applied topically to soften the skin
    *Prevent artheriosclerosis
*Speed healing of ulcers – kills h.pylori on contact
*Help clear up candida & yeast infections
    *Aid healthy cell regeneration
    *Reduce gray hair
*Lower glucose levels – prevents spiking from eating

Umm YA! I’ll drink to that… But EWWW, here’s what it looks like when it is fermenting. It is alive and often grows to the shape of it container when harvesting this stuff…People think it’s made from mushrooms, but it’s really just a yeast that actually carbonates naturally.. So when you drink it, it has a fizzy taste..

I’ll only drink it when it’s in a pretty bottle and tastes good…. My friend Amanda from SKNclinic.ca loves the green one… I’ll pick that one up next time….

I want to live long. I want to be healthy. I strive to be healthy, feel healthy. Strive to be and feel vibrant and full of life and love… I am not perfect, I have not been 100% raw since the new year has started. I don’t beat myself up though. Since I took the Feed Life, Starve Cancer classes in Vancouver, I see the benefits of other foods. Such as steamed yams, steamed veggies (for variety), whole grain rice and legumes. I miss 100% raw, but I’ve been kind of all over the map since being in LA. No excuses, just in a different head space. Really want to buckle down again with my choices soon. LESS beer and mexican food—- More raw, live, fresh fruits and veggies… I can do that!!

Here’s some shots by the wonderful Swoon Photography taken a couple weeks ago down here in California.

This shoot was such a blast. The lovely Diana from The Look Machine helped style it.

I’m Fun! (most of the time)

Nice black and white shot. 2 sets of eyelashes baby!

At this moment. I can hear people swimming in our outdoor pool and I am loving it. I MAY have to go for a dip. It’s a heated pool….

It’s been so nice to spend the rainy (Vancouver season) in Sunny California. I still really miss home though..I’m sure we’ll be back soon enough!

Sending you love, light, power and might….You are so amazing. I love this quote by my fellow Canadian tribe member, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Wayne Gretzky. Amen Wayne, Amen…..

  • Hey friends!

Ugh! Where have I been?? Just busy…sorry. We had company the last couple days, just haven’t had a chance to write. But here I am;)

I have also been just diving myself into my work. Since I’ve been here in LA, I have learnt so much about this industry. It’s keeping me on my toes and I want to keep learning, keep getting better.

Here are 5 KEY tips I’ve gotten in Voiceovers, that can be applied in all walks of life:
    1. Be yourself
    2. Be confident (or at least learn to fake it…haha)
    3. Trust yourself (your audience needs to trust you too)
    4. Take risks
    5. Tell the truth

A lot of people try to say there is only 1 way to get into voice acting- you must FIRST be an actor. I disagree, I think that you naturally must inhibit the “acting” trait, and keep taking classes and improving your abilities to give life to the words of the script, but there are no rules or just 1 way that people get into this biz. I say the way into anything- is to follow your heart and never give up…NO RULES BABY…

I can proudly say, I got into this industry via rock and roll baby!!

Oh, and then that segued into becoming a radio DJ.

Here I am broadcasting LIVE at McHappy Day, lol….

Which in turn, got me into voiceovers. Part of being a radio dj, every shift, you have to voice the local commercials, that’s when I fell in love with reading scripts. Although, strangely enough, when I was in my late teens, early twenties- I always, always, always wanted to do voiceovers, I just didn’t know how…

Here is a recent voiceover video demo of some of my work….

Don’t know what started this topic, but anyway…now it is all about growing, learning and giving it all I got. I am going to start taking improv classes right away, I have learned that every successful voice actor takes improv classes…So I better jump on board…

Another thing to jump on board with is THIS VIDEO. (I’m totally going to switch gears here)
KONA 2012- Have you seen it? It’s already got over 11 million views. If you haven’t seen it yet… PLEASE watch it. Kick back and check this out…..

Isn’t it crazy? Wow. I cried so much watching this. Powerful. The filmmaker is totally revolutionizing social media and using it for something sooo powerful and good. I hope it all works out and I fully support this cause.

I just got back from pilates. I hadn’t gone since last Friday (we had company in…no excuse I know). It was a great class. Excited to be back into it…
    Ha, loved that pic…so true!!
I hope you are having an immaculate week! I am sending you good vibes and sunshine.

  • Hey friends!

    Sunday Funday..

We started with coffee in the morning, along with watching a live stream service of “Agape Live”. (It’s a spiritual centre here in LA, lead by Michael Bernard Beckwith (I first heard of him in The Secret).

We LOVE his Sunday services. Check it out next Sunday, if you don’t live in LA, you can stream live from your computer, anywhere in the world!

Micheal Bernard Beckwith is soooo motivating and inspiring. He is all about creating your own world, coming up with ideas, being more of who you really are, cutting the bull, stop complaining, loving one another, be thankful, put out good positive energy in the world, ETC,…. All the stuff I LOVE learning about.

Here he is on the Oprah show, talking about The Secret. He is SO much MORE than just The Secret though… I highly recommend checking him out;)

Then it was beach time! It was a hot one.

    south bay, march, hot weather
    The view from my blanket…

As I layed on my blanket, I saw tons of dolphins and sea lions out on the water. Then I went for a dip.., All I could think about was sea creatures coming to attack me! EEK! (I didn’t venture out too far though because the water was so darn cold!)

Last beach day I had was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in May…

We were in Florida for a seminar, but any spare mili-second we had….we were on the beach (or in the cantina having margarita’s, lol

More sea creatures in Florida I reakon.. (maybe even sharks!! ahhhhhh)

What is your week ahead looking like? Mike’s friend is coming into town tomorrow, so they are doing guy-stuff while I do “girl-stuff” lol…Basically it means, Mike is out drinking beer in Hollywood and I am working and holding down the fort;)
As I walk to pilates, I have been listening to audiobooks. One I just downloaded is called “Until Today”. So far so good. I LOVE listening to spiritual and motivational audiobooks. It rocks my world.
Even though I could think of a million things I “want”…these kinds of books help remind me, just how blessed I am. How grateful I should be. Material things fade, looks fade, status fades, but your spirit and the essence of your heart and soul live forever. Be ever so thankful for YOU, your family, the love you give and the love you receive. The chance to get up everyday and live this life.

Also…the more you give…the more you receive!
For example…last week I forwarded my friends demo to a director I was working with on a tv spot. They were looking for a voice and I really thought my friend could nail it. He got an audition, booked the job!!! and was SOO thankful for what I had done.
THEN (it gets better)…to return the favor, he sent my demo to one of his big contacts. BAM- they called me the next day with a national tv spot. I’ve already voiced it and sent it back.

Super pumped about that. SO GIVE!! How can you give?

Ok, enough with that talk, hee hee. I’m just sending you love.. Lots of love….

Here’s to an amazing, abundant, prosperous, peaceful, loving week!

  • Hey there!

    Happy Weekend!

This was me basically all week… Behind the mic, telling it like it is…

Here is my personalized “That was easy” Button….

I wanna give this scarecrow a holla for being so darn cute. My neighbour knows how to make the most of her space. This cute little garden has a bit of everything.

I’m not gonna lie, this California weather is AMAZING. It was kinda cool last week- but it is heating up and I am digging it.

    Palm trees, California

I like that you can see the moon just above the palm tree in the middle. “If you believe we put a man on the moon, man on the moon….” People in this beach city are more concerned about surfing the waves, than they are going to the moon! This place is literally flooded with surfers, all day…everyday.. no complaints!

Here’s the sunset this Friday evening.

South Bay Sunset It was a beauty.
    Here’s another little teeny beauty.

He got some MAJOR air today when Mike set up a little obstacle course for him. HA! Look at his goofy face!

He was catching all sorts of balls…He loves this game!

    Life’s a ball!

I finished 2 weeks of pilates!! 5x a week for 2 weeks! It’s been awesome. Can definitely feel the tone coming back. Doing pilates is so “LA” of me, lol, but it really is a great workout. When I go home, I’ll go back to my gym, running, yoga, etc. But for now- just call me the pilates queen!
I loved my legs back here when my band was on the road… trying to tone em up like this again;)

OMG, I can’t even remember where this picture was taken. Honestly, I think it was in Kansas. I remember it was an all ages show…That’s all I remember….
Amanda and James (the 2 on the far left) are married with 2 kids now! Check out pictures from our last visit in San Fran in November…

Here’s the full post from our visit!

    Until we meet again…

Have a WICKED weekend will you…
