• Hello!!!!!

Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi hi…I am a bit hyper this evening. I went out for coffee with my girlfriend and I had Green Macha tea INSTEAD of coffee. (I had to pinch myself) Not that I’m all god’s gift to health or anything, I had 2 heafty cups earlier in the day, I was just proud that I didn’t go for a 3rd and actually had some tea.

I was also proud of this PHAT shake I made! The bottom was all romaine lettuce.

We were filming a video today for a new skin care product coming out and I was an actor in the video. I was asked to wear a black tank top. I have about 80 of them, so I was covered there, but I could NOT find a black bra to save my life. I remembered I threw away the one Victoria’s Secret one I had because it was beat and I hadn’t re-stocked yet. (I have a very dark blue bra and I’ve been using that as my “black” bra… anyway….I made Mike stop at Walmart on the way so I could grab a black bra off the shelf. I got a 36C (not a D Cup like the LaSenza lady suggested).

I did a magic move and put it on in the car in morning rush hour traffic and I didn’t skip a beat. I think every girl knows how to do the trick where you get a bra on under the shirt your wearing without exposing a peep. Am I right or am I right?

Ta Da! Mike was impressed, even though he HATES when I change in public. He thinks I’m some nudist that will change anywhere.. I tell him “I’M NOT!”. I can change very discretely. Another gift a lot of girls have.

I showed up on set ready to ROCK!

We were shooting in the most beautiful home ever! I only had my non-zoom lens with me, so I couldn’t really cover the whole beauty of the place, but it was stunning!

This is where we had lunch..

    Over looking a meditative garden..

    The house..

The awesome crew! I was in such great company.

It was a very zen and joy-filled day… I started the day with a 6am yoga class, I wonder if that had anything to do with it…

Mom will be here tomorrow afternoon. I had all these ideas of making a big raw gourmet spread but now I don’t know how much time I’ll have, but we’ll see what the morning brings..

  • Hey!

How was the weekend? I am reporting back to you as a certified raw food chef! I am so excited! Who’s coming to my first class? I am thinking I will set something up at the community centre to start… and I’ll go from there. Out of the whole “raw food” lifestyle, what are you most interested in learning?

Today we ate our dehydrated pizza’s that we made the night before… YUM

Raw, vegan pizza, raw food foundation

It tasted like it could have been a real pizza, but I didn’t have that thug full lethargic feeling after!

Raw, vegan pizza, raw food foundation

A little stuffed mushroom to garnish our plate of raw chili!

Raw, vegan stuffed mushrooms, raw food foundation

Raw chili is sooo good. When I am not so tired, I will share more info and post recipes and what not!

Raw, vegan chili, raw food foundation

Burgertime! (yes, we ate a lot of food this weekend!)

Raw, vegan burgers, raw food foundation

We talked and I need to cut back on my coffee consumption. Going to transition to some matcha tea to start (and TRY to cut back on the java)

A really cool aspect of the class is where WE the students each have to get up and teach a recipe! We picked out of a hat the recipe’s we would have to make, I got the Mock Salmon Pate… It went really well. Here are my Mock Salmon Pate ingredients..

I brought my own apron from home to add the Amanda flair I thought my presentation needed, haha.

Just got home to this little bugger who was desperately wanting me to tell him about raw food attention and liver treats..
    Such a doll!

I am shooting (and starring in) a video in the morning with SKN clinic! So I NEED my beauty sleep…Even though I mioght not get as much sleep as I would like tonight….

Even I look like crap in the morning, I will put on some confidence! lol

Get ready for an amazing week! xoxo

  • Hey friends!

Hope your having a glorious weekend. I’ve been getting my “raw on”, as I am taking a raw food instructor course.

Question. Which animal in nature do we most resemble? Dogs? no. Bears? no. Snakes? no. Cougars? no (except I have a bit of cougar in me since Mike is 7 years younger than me…shhh)

The animal we most resemble is a gorilla. (or chimps, monkeys, etc)

Gorillas become big, strong, beautiful creatures by eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

I believe nature has everything we need to become strong, vibrant, healthy beings. Nature doesn’t supply us with Ritz crackers, cream cheese, or chicken wings. That is not to say that these foods don’t TASTE good, because they do… but the more we can base our diets on the abundant live foods mother nature naturally supplies us with- the better. For the earth and ourselves!

The transition off cooked foods is freaking hard! Trust me, I am still in the process, but I do know the way I feel on raw foods is like none other, so the closer I can stick to that, GREAT!

The beauty about raw food is the endless things we can “cook” to make them look and taste like our traditional ways of eating.  I am in the middles of my Raw Food Instructor course and I am LOVING all the things I am learning to prepare to make this transition even easier!

I didn’t get a chance to take as many pictures as I would have liked to today, but check out this raw pizza we made!!!

In a nutshell (pun intended) this is how it’s made:

CRUST:  flax seeds, sprouted buckwheat, red peppers, carrot, celery, garlic..

CHEDDAR CHEESE: pine nuts, macadamia, sunflower seedsm lemon, garlic, nama shoyo, red pepper…

    MARINARA: tomatos, parsley, dates, etc….

TOPPINGS: whatever fresh veggies your heart desires.

    Raw food pizza

We are dehydrating this bad boy overnight, so it will be ready by lunch tomorrow. WOOT WOOT

    We also made raw lasagna…

    Raw food lasagna
    Raw Enchiladas..

Anyone that knows me, knows my obsession with mexican food…so having a mexican option like this is unreal. With the tortilla shells you can also make chips! Imagine..making your own raw chips with fresh salsa and guacamole… (if only tequila were raw….haha)

We had fresh lemon and Goji Berries in our water… Goji is known as the “longevity fruit.” Its unique master molecule polysaccharides and powerful antioxidants fight against free radicals that cause damage on the body.

2 must have items that are now on my shopping list are:

    Coconut Sugar…

    mums coconut sugar

    and Vanilla Bean Powder..
Another thing I am going to be all about now is Coconut water and then using the “meat” to make coconut cream pie! I promise within the next couple weeks I will do a video on how to break these nut heads open and reap the rewards!

    young coconut water, coconut meat

As I’m sure you can tell I am inspired. The Raw Food Foundation is great and I am really loving it. The studio is in the heart of Coal Harbour/downtown van.

It was kind of a rainy day so a perfect day to be inside learning! If you are just learning about Raw Foods and want an amazing place to start… watch this green shake video

    Don’t mind my brown hair….it was a phase… haha

Thanks for stopping by! Hope I have inspired you in some way. That is why I am here. Love you guys!

    xo

  • Hello!

I finally got our wedding invitations ordered. It was not an easy breezy or enjoyable task (at least for me). I sent the proof to a couple of my well articulated friends who could help me write out the invitation as best as possible. That helped me big time and now they are being printed.

I watched a cute video of Mike in grade 3 today and it made me wonder if we met when we where little tikes would we still be best friends? Here we are old skool as kids, I have a brown tooth because my older brother pushed me down the stairs when I was 2 and my tooth was bruised brown until it fell out. Oh and I was an aspiring dancer in dancing because my mom forced me. Mike‘s just a little cutie with a cool necklace.

Now were big tikes and we ARE best friends and we ARE getting married!! (unless he gets cold feet and runs away)

Here’s my quote of the day…..

One “wish” that turned into a “will” that has changed my path is my new found journey with raw food. I have so much love for raw food and how energetic and alive it makes me. So much that, this weekend, as we speak I am becoming a Raw Food Instructor through The Raw Food Foundation!

We’ve recently made these To do for wraps and stuffed mushrooms that I am going to make for my mom next week and see if I can’t convince her to add a bit more raw food to her diet!

Raw brocoli soup (not my favourite, but I know how good broccoli is for the body)

    Date Nut Torte…

    raw food foundation

So good. I could eat the whole torte…

But I guess we need to share..hee hee… Notice the big bowl of angel hair pasta and marinara being mixed in the background?

Ahhh, best seat in the house..

This morning I took some of my new skills (ha, you don’t need skills it’s so easy!) and I made some:

    ONE BITE BROWNIES

    1 1/2 cups walnuts

    14 medjool dates

    1/2 cup cacao powder

    1/4-1/2 tsp vanilla bean powder

    Pinch of salt

Process walnuts until fine. Add remaining ingredients. Form into cubes on plate, roll in coconut if desired and refrigerate until firm.

    Here is All you need!

    Throw in the nuts..

    Chop chop.

add in the rest of your ingredients (and please ignore my half chipped nail polish still on from Marianne’s wedding.

I formed them into cubes and put them on a fancy new plate I got as a bridal shower gift… (throw them in the fridge for a bit)

    raw food brownies

    mmm, these brownies are delicious!

    raw food brownies!

Cool plate and scrumptious raw food……

And a really cute dog that lays on the couch while I take pictures of everything.

The face of an angel. How could I love a dog so much?

Ok, back to the classes all day tomorrow so beddie by for me. Thanks sooooo much for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.

    xoxo

  • Hey Team!!

How are you all doing today?

Great day here today. Woke up, mucked around while my voice was warming up and hit the booth for a new gig as an e-learning instructor. After 129 pages of voicing geometry, this 12 page course of technology integration was a BREEZE!

Like my new studio chair? I got it as a bridal shower gift from my sister in law. It is PERFECT for my sound booth! (mike was laughing at the tissue I hang on the side. Once I get seated, I don’t like to be reaching down for things, geesh!

While I was in the booth (during a blooper I’m sure) I was thinking about working out and how I didn’t feel like going to the gym in the rain. So I dusted off the ol P90x. It was an hour core synergy dvd and I actually didn’t mind it. Might stick with it for a bit, along with my yoga.

It was such an exciting evening. I had my first class at The RAW Foundation Culinary Arts Institute!

Check out all these raw foods! The class today was 5 easy recipes each in 5 minutes.

Some of the things we learnt:

    * How to make delicious raw food meals that taste just like your favorite cooked food dishes; with just 5-7 ingredients in  5-7 minutes!

    * Nutrition Basics for each ingredient

    * The impact of common dangers in foods, on our bodies

    * How to minimize preparation time to just twice a week, for entrees

    * How to prepare gourmet raw food meals, simply and easily (no salad)

    * Flavour balancing techniques & the key to satisfying meals

    * How to transform basic recipes from one ethnicity to another, quickly and easily

*Everything you need to know create a menu for 30 days!

    * How to shop for raw foods – complete with a shopping list

    * How to stock your raw food kitchen

The foundation and the class is lead by a beautiful, talented, inspiring and extremely informative woman named Janice Skoreyko. (She happens to be a prairie girl too- bonus!)

    Janice Skoreyko

    mmm, stuffed mushrooms.

The class was hands on, we made our own wraps. There was such a great group in the class too. We were having a blast.

I helped out with the walnut brownies (she asked for a volunteer who likes chocolate- ummmm…ME!)

Janice Skoreyko, Raw food foundation vancouver

I learnt so much and I feel like I have information overload and I have to get up at 5:30am for yoga….sooo…if I have your permission I will bid farewell for this evening and be back tomorrow refreshed and ready to rock with more rawesome pictures and fun!

Mike is unloading the dishwasher right now.. (Is he feeling ok? I better get over there!)

    Love and light!!

    Namaste;)
