Archive: TTWM of the MONTH

  • DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!

I have been waiting to feature Rileah Vanderbilt as our “Tomboy That Wears Makeup of the Month” for a long time now.

Before I dive in, I’ll give you some background.

Where is Rileah from? Rileah grew up in Cripple Creek, Colorado, a small mountain town on the backside of Pikes Peak.

What was growing up in Cripple Creek like? From a very early age she was involved with school and community theatre as well as organized school sports including cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, track and baseball.

Where did I met Rileah? I met Rileah in Hollywood when we both waitressed at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on Sunset Blvd.

So what does Rileah do? She is an accomplished Actress, living in Hollywood, married to director Adam Green.

What else? She’s a known geek and enjoys comics, video games, costuming, fantasy books, Star Wars and all things Sci-fi.

    Welcome Rileah!

It’s been a while since we’ve chatted, but thank you so much for doing this interview, you have come a LONG way since our Rainbow days and I am so proud of you, let’s get right into it….what inspires you?

I’m inspired by anything that’s creative! It’s probably the reason I became so involved with the film and television industry. I love being surrounded by other people who are just as passionate as I am about life. I love optimism and the idea that tomorrow can be whatever you want it to be:)

    Adam Green, Rileah Vanderbilt

Wow, that is awesome. I too believe that “Dreamers are the saviours of the world”. You are definitely a dreamer. What motivates you?

Passion is the biggest motivator for me.

     Rileah Vanderbilt

I know you love makeup as much as I do. What is your favorite Beauty Product?

Wow, this is a hard one! There’s just too many out there. I really love my curling wand. Basically, it’s a curling iron with out the clamp. It’s the only way my hair holds curl and it give you this really beautiful wave.

I now want one of these. What is your biggest fear?

Not utilizing time while I have it. Sometimes I look back at what I was doing ten years ago and realize now that if I had just spend my time really focusing on what I was passionate about, I’d be much further a long in life.

My goodness girl, don’t sweat it- you are a rockstar!  One of my favorite quotes is, “Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you will go!!!” What is your favorite quote?

This one is hard too! There’s too many that I love. Guess I’ll have to go Disney and say, ” A dream is wish your heart makes.”

    Rileah Vanderbilt

Nice, what is your greatest achievement?

Starting my own production company. Getting married.

Here is Rileah and her hubby Adam…

Here is one of her videos that got over 1 million hits in it’s first week on Youtube!

    Haha I love it!!!!

What would you say has been your greatest struggle so far?

Still not being exactly where I see myself being at this time.

If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?

    Steven Spielberg.

I’m sure Steven would love Team Unicorn!

    team unicron, Rileah Vanderbilt

What is something about yourself people may not know?

I have two tattoos. The chinese symbol for “friendship” that I share with a couple of my high school friends. And the chinese symbol for “sugar”. My sister has “spice”.

Here’s Rileah, her mom and sister at her Mad Hatter themed bridal shower.

     Rileah Vanderbilt

Beautiful family.. What’s something that makes you smile?

My husband. He’s constantly making me laugh.

    Adam Green

Cute. When did you discover your passion for comics and video games?

When I was a kid. I loved reading and would read anything I could get my hands on including comics and my mother’s fantasy books. I think I read through Lord of the Rings when I was 9. I got into video games because of my brother, he had a Nintendo.

I love that picture of you girls! So fun, and such cute dresses. What is your fall fashion must have?

    Brown knee high riding boots.

(Rileah is always looking so stylish…)

     Rileah Vanderbilt

Do you have a healthy snack or recipe that you would like to share?

I’m a big fan of roasted red pepper hummus and Triscuit crackers. Beats potato chips and junk food!

Yum! What is your ultimate idea of relaxation?

A 2 week vacation in the Maldives! More practically, a whirlpool bathtub, candles, music, and a good book.

That works for me!! Rileah, thank you sooo much for doing this interview. Keep up the amazing work. I know all your dreams will come true! (remember when we used to climb the Santa Monica stairs? good times) Hope to see you again soon and if I don’t see you in person, I know we’ll see you on the big screen!!

    UNLEASH YOUR INNER GEEK!!!

  • Hey Girls and Boys!

How goes today? Already into August. As time seems to go faster and faster, I try to tell myself to go slower and slower. Like on Saturday when Mike and I were going to relax in our dingy’s out at the lake, I COULDN’T WAIT to get out there, but I had to get a few things done first. I was unloading the dishwasher thinking “AHH, just get me out there already!!” Then I consciously thought to myself… SLOW down…enjoy THIS moment… you will get out there. I took a deep breath and brought my awareness back into now.

It’s not hard to be in the moment when you feel this good though! I am on Day 9 of my Raw Food Challenge Celebration! I set out to do this for 30 days, but I was telling Mike today- If I continue to feel this amazing, I could see myself staying raw for a long time. I wake up so clear headed and my energy levels are high and consistent (no crashes) throughout the whole day.

So in honour of this new found abundant energy, I scoured the internet high and low to find the Coolest, Most Gorgeous, Raw Vegan; an outstanding woman that is putting out big, positive energy into the world for this month’s feature interview and I found her!!!

    Her name is Freelee!!!!

Freelee, Raw Vegan, 811rv, detox, fruitarian

YAY! Thanks for doing this interview! I know how busy you are and it is an honour to feature you…. Tell us about yourself….

I’m here on this planet to help others become their ultimate self. To help keep as many animals alive as possible and I do this by inspiring others to step up and adopt a high carb raw vegan lifestyle.

So for those who don’t know, a high carb Raw Vegan lifestyle is basically just Fresh, Ripe fruits and vegetables. Low nuts and seed intake. I am definitely not at that stage of raw, but I admire you for living it and being so passionate about it. What inspired you to become a Raw Vegan?

I became raw vegan in January 2007. How did it change my life? Where do I start?! It changed my entire life from my social interactions to my colon health. I was a mess in so many ways. I had systemic candida, I was 40lbs over weight, I had acne on my face, chest and shoulders. I found it hard to get out of bed in the morning. I was desperately depressed. I have now been following this lifestyle for about 4.5 years and have NONE of these issues. I have also lost 40lbs. I am ecstatic! My day is filled with so much positivity now and its all thanks to following a clean fruity lifestyle. I started the Worlds busiest raw vegan website – 30bananasaday.com in 2008 and now it helps many others become superbeings.

I signed up for an account there, it is a good place for support and motivation for Raw Vegans!

Here is Freelee before the lifestyle change.

You are also an athlete, what type of sports/athletics are you into?

I am runner, I love it. I used to do gymnastics and a lot of yoga but now focus most of my training on running. Once upon a time before a raw vegan lifestyle I could do a 5km running race in 30mins, now my personal best is 21mins 5 secs. I recommend everyone gets into running if they want to feel and look their best. I ride my bike occasionally as well. I have also done kickboxing for about 14 years.

You are fast like the wind! Nice work on your 5km time!!!

Your also gorgeous! What is your favourite beauty product?

    - 100percentpure.com They are organic & vegan & made from pure fruit pigments.

I just checked out their site, thanks for the tip!

    What’s your favourite quote?

“Do what you love and love what you do because those who matter do not mind, and those who mind, do not matter.”

Exactly! What is one of your greatest achievements?

I rode over 1800 miles across Australia (in the middle of winter) as a raw vegan to increase awareness of the lifestyle.

Nice! Ok, I will ask the question everyone is wondering-What advice would you give someone who is interested in becoming raw, but needs a push?

Prioritise your health above ALL. If you don’t then you will always be underperforming and eating the wrong foods. If you want to look and feel your best then step up! This is not a dress rehearsal, this is the real deal. You only get one shot at this life and time moves VERY quickly. Commit to feeding
yourself the most nourishing vibrant foods on the planet – raw fruits and greens and your life will change. Attach pain to your old disempowering
habits. Put a before pic of yourself on your fridge and everytime you go to eat crap, look at that pic instead and then grab fruit. Do a 30 day challenge
with a friend, it makes it a lot easier to stay on track.

I love that advice. I also love that I am on Day 9 of a raw challenge and feeling so good.

If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?

    Tony Robbins.

    I’m sure that could happen!

    Who do you admire?

Plenty of people but particularly my boyfriend Harley (google Durianrider)

Awww, You’re sure a good looking couple:)

What is something about yourself people may not know?

That my ‘binge food’ was a whole chicken a day before becoming a raw vegan

I’m sure that won’t be happening again anytime soon!!!!!

What’s something that makes you smile?

Seeing the ‘aha!’ moment in people’s faces when I’m giving lectures on raw veganism.

That must feel good. What is your biggest fear?

I had to think about this hard because I don’t focus on fears. But I guess not being able to continue spreading the raw vegan message would be devastating.

K, moving on because the world needs you doing this for a long time!

Best thing about your line of work?

Being able to live anywhere in the World and work online. Being able to help people regain their health across the other side of the planet.

Ahh, freedom.. Good for you. What are a few things on your must-do’s this month?

    - Give a raw vegan lecture at Bonobo’s raw vegan restaurant in the City on Aug 11th, 6pm. Attend and be a speaker at www.woodstockfruitfestival.com

Say hi to my dear friend Chris while your there;)

…and…what do you do to RELAX?

Lie in the sun, go for a jog/swim or I love doing graphic design work in my spare time, I find it really relaxing. Oh yeh and sleep!!

THANKS FREELEE! If you come to Vancouver, please let me know!

GOOD LUCK with everything. I look forward to seeing more videos and updates on your facebook page.

    * k guys back to just us again:) Isn’t she cool? I love how she doesn’t make excuses for what she believes in, either. To spread this message so boldly, I know she gets a lot of naysayers and backlash, but she is so strong in her clarity, presence and posture. It’s nice to see. Let’s learn from Freelee and be bold, be passionate about your passion! And also……EAT MORE FRUIT!!

It’s fairly daunting to go 100% raw vegan right this second, but at the least, let’s be kind to ourselves and eat less processed “dead” food and add more fruit and veggies to our diets!

Hope your all having a fresh, ripe, juicy evening!!

  • Happy Canada Day!

Time to roll out the red carpet and tell our country how much we love it! YAY! I am actually working all day, BUT I think tomorrow we are going to hike up our near by mountain and go camping, (after the Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast of course).

I hope you have an amazing day today and my goal is to make it that much better by inspiring and entertaining you with July’s- Tomboy That Wear Makeup of the Month!!! Whenever the 1st of the month rolls around and I get to do these interviews, I always feel like the crazy woman on the Price Is Right who’s name was just called to, “COME ON DOWN”!! I just get so excited and feel so blessed to share some insight on such amazing woman. Every interview I’ve ever done for the “TTWM of the month” is someone I look up too, and July’s feature- Erin Ireland, is no exception.

I  first came across Erin on the net. We had like 500 “mutual friends” on face book (ok, I just checked..it’s only 54 mutual friends-but still!) Like a creeper, I started checking out her pictures, then her website, then her videos and I thought, “Damn this girl is soooo cool!” I finally got to meet her in person at The Osoyoos Celebrity Wine Festival, (here’s the post on that night). She is just as cool in person and she is on the World Wide Web. I can’t wait for you to meet her!!

Thanks Erin!!! I appreciate you doing this interview! Start by telling us a bit about yourself…..

Well, I used to be a tomboy with a very short haircut. All I ate was croutons, pasta alfredo, and cucumbers. Fortunately, by the time university rolled around, I’d become a full-fledged food lover with an adventurous, insatiable palate. Cuisine became such a love, that I incorporated it into my career. I’m now a food reporter writing a weekly column for Metro Newspaper, a bi-monthly column for Vancouver View magazine, and I appear on Urban Rush once a month reporting on new restaurants in Vancouver. I’m also launching a line of baked goods under my brand, ‘It’s To Die For’. My sweet and salty banana bread will be available at Commune Cafe beginning July 11th. I go to bed very early, order my steak blue rare, was nicknamed ‘Jeter’ during my four years of university, don’t/can’t dance, often prefer my food cold, and I’m a quarter Russian.

I love how dynamic and well-rounded your are as a person, I also understand you are an amazing athlete, can you tell us about the sports you play (played)?

I don’t know about amazing…but thank you! In high school, I played most sports. Volleyball was my favorite, so I aimed to play post-highschool down in the States. Ending up at Winthrop University on scholarship was like fate. The NCAA Division 1 program at the small-ish school in the tiny town of Rock Hill was extremely tough, but resulted in three conference wins and appearances in the NCAA tournament. I wouldn’t do it over, but the experience changed my life and I give it partial credit for who I am today.

    erin ireland

Good for you! What type of fitness regime do you partake in now?

I run five times a week. Weight-lifting was my main work-out until the age of 21 — I dropped thirty pounds of muscle when I stopped. If I go near a weight, the muscles return. I prefer a leaner look for this phase of my life.

Here’s a picture of Erin in a Nike commercial!!!!

    erin ireland

You are sooo photogenic, what is your secret to such glowing skin?

Riversol Skin Care. The line was developed by the top dermatologist in BC, Dr. Jason Rivers. I trust everything he makes and the products have seriously improved the quality of my skin.

Riversol hey? I’ll have to try it.  What would you say is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has yet to happen — it will be beginning a food empire under the ‘It’s To Die For’ brand. There will be a line of food products, books, and a television show.

    http://www.itstodie4.ca

You are going to be HUGE! What inspired you to start your blog (Itstodie4.com) and what is your favourite thing to make in your own kitchen?

When social media was blowing up, I knew I needed to start a website in order to be successful. At the time, I was hosting a show about fashion, music, and art — all topics that I lack passion for. Food was the natural choice for the topic of my website — I’m happy to photograph it, make it, or talk about it all day long.

My favorite thing to make in my kitchen is my banana bread. I’m guessing thousands of loaves have emerged from that oven, so, as you can imagine, I’ve become fairly efficient with the process. I sometimes time myself to see how fast I can do it. The record is five minutes.

    http://itstodiefor.ca/

MMMM, that looks so good. I can’t wait to try your banana bread. I have heard all about it in the news!!

Vancouver- Erin’s bread is available to the public July 11. Click here for all the details. Erin, if you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?

My granny Betty who died in 2007. She was the coolest person I knew. Though she was 87, she and I talked like we were same-aged best friends. She was the one filling me in on the daily news, including Hollywood gossip.

Aw, she sounds like a doll. Who do you admire?
My dad. Back in ’72, he won the Canadian championships as UBC’s 6’5” center and he’s still in unreal shape despite turning 60 this year. Since then, he’s created the dream life for himself. His work is a stone’s throw from his home, he travels just about every weekend, and he cooks huge, amazing meals on an almost daily basis. He’s got the most positive attitude of anyone I know.

    erin ireland

Did you inherit your limbo moves from your father??? xoxo

What is something about yourself people may not know?
I spent six months living in Europe before diving into career in ’09. Two of those months were spent on a horse farm in Tuscany where I cared for 40 horses, five dogs, and a big fruit and veggie garden, including fig trees. This was one of the best times of my life.

I love that you are not afraid to take chances, try something different and think outside of the box!! something that makes you smile?
Christmas and surprises. The surprise factor heightens any experience. In my case, being taken out on a surprise dinner date is the ultimate.

    Biggest fear?
Being run over on my scooter. And spiders.

    http://itstodiefor.ca/its-to-die-for-banana-bread-update-june-2011/

I don’t like spider s either;) What’s the best thing about your line of work?

Being able to help people who are looking for a great restaurant. It’s extremely satisfying recommending a spot and later learning that the experience was memorable for them. And of course, being exposed to so much delicious food! I feel honored to do what I do.

    erin ireland

A few things on Erin’s MUST-DO for summer?

Find a book as captivating as ‘Shantaram’, which I recently finished reading. I don’t know if an equally riveting book exists? Pretty please, let me know if you have a recommendation. Also on the must-do list: run a half marathon and cook dozens and dozens of late patio dinners.

…and…what do you do to RELAX?

I head to my favorite cafe (Commune), order a delicious misto (made with 49th Parallel espresso) and a muffin, then I sit, read, and people watch.

Sounds glorious Erin. I am so thankful for this interview. I truly wish you all the best with every “on your plate”. I look forward to trying your famous banana bread and also watching your amazing career unfold.

Seriously guys- how cool is she??????? You can join her facebook page here!

Ok, well I am out! Happy Canada Day once again and talk to you tomorrow!!!

ps. Happy birthday to my fiancee Mike, who is 26 today!

    xoxo

  • Happy JUNE 1st!!!

Here’s to a brand new month full of pure potential, bountiful energy and LOVE!

I am soooo excited right now. My fingers can’t type fast enough to keep up with the overflowing joy I have for today’s interview. If you are new to my website, I’ll fill you in. Since I started this blog, on the first of every month I interview a fun, fearless, inspiring, glowing, motivating and vibrant female. I call her my “Tomboy That Wears Makeup of The Month”. I feel so blessed with the women who have graced the pages of these posts and June’s feature is no exception.

Her name is Jenny Fletcher. She is a Pro Triathlete/model.

Jenny! I know how busy you are and first off I want to thank you for doing this interview. Tell us, what inspired you to get into triathlons? I’ve always loved sports. As a kid I grew up doing everything and any sport I could. Tap, Jazz, Ballet, horse riding, basketball, volleyball, track and field, Tetrathlon, and Modern Pentathlon…. It was a natural movement to go from Pentathlon into triathlons. I’ve always loved multi sports. I stopped being competitive to pursue my modeling career but it was still deep inside of me that desire to be competitive and at a high level.

You easily could have just continued to model full time, but I love that you followed your passion of sport and dedicated yourself to it. What are some of your goals in the triathlon world? My goal is to continue to better my times and also continue to be a competitive force out there. I know to take things in stride I have started into this sport late in life and still have a ways to go but I know it is within me and I just keep striving to do better. I want to be finishing in the top 5 with the goal of being on the podium and one day winning a big race!

You can do it! How many races will you do this year? Way too many (lol) I love to train and am hesitant in the races so I signed up for a lot to get my fear out of my system. I think there are about 17 races on my schedule!

Wow, good for you. How intense are your workouts? Very intense. They take a lot out of me. I find I want to sleep a lot more as my body is fighting to recover… But I love to train so I just keep getting out of bed every morning to go at it again!

Awesome. Do you ever miss days because you feel lazy or are just not into it? Yep! Very rarely. But generally it’s because I’ve been training hard, or traveling and racing and I’ll ask coach if it is okay if she says yes… I crawl back into bed with a smile on my face! I love my days of rest!

I need less days of rest! When I am feeling lazy, I am going to think of you busting your butt! What are some of your nutrition tips for staying hydrated and fuelled during training? Always drink. Always fuel. You can’t get behind in these two things as it will be too late.

Check! What has been your absolute most favorite race? Escape From Alcatraz and Alp Du Huez Triathlon. I love a challenging race. And 2 yrs ago I won the overall AG for Escape so it has good memories.

Nice. What are some “insider” tips you would give to someone just getting into triathlons? Baby steps. Everything takes time. Set realistic goals and write out what you are doing and have done. It’s great to look back on and see progress or things that need to change etc.

I need to write down my workouts/training programs better and more consistently. Great advice. Besides triathlons, what are some other things you enjoy doing? Hanging with friends, spur of the moment things, laughing, chilling, going out for dinners or meeting friends for coffee and always love going to the movies and eating popcorn!

Fun! I love your shoes in this above picture! What is your favorite beauty product? Lavanila perfume. So good!

Ohh! I just looked at Lavanila’s website! All natural and organic too!  What has been your favourite modelling job or contract to date? Aghh hard question. Love the jobs where I have fun with the people I’m working with. After doing this career for so long it’s not about the jobs sometimes it’s about the memories made with the people I am working together with.

“You got legs and know how to use them!”

What’s your street style? Jeans, tshirt, and flip flops generally. But I love Fashion. I’m always mixing it up!

You and Jessica Biel, no big deal! lol What is your favorite quote? I have a few but the one that sticks out in my mind is one I just read from C.S Lewis… “You are never to old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream….” This is what I hope to achieve in inspiring others-it’s never too late!

I love that and couldn’t agree more. I think people give up too fast with the “I’m old” mentality. You are as old as you think you are!  K, what is you greatest achievement? Living life to the fullest.

Yes you do. What is your biggest fear? Failure.

We have a lot in common, keeps us moving forward right? If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be? My close friends or family… I know general answer… But you think I’m gonna tell the whole world ;)

Hee, hee. Who do you admire? Anyone who is living their dreams and inspiring others.

Live Earth, what a great cause. I wonder who would win in a race though- Jenny or Pete? lol. What is something about yourself people may not know?
Ummmm….. Im sure there are loads of things… But let’s see… I have a little Teddy bear it’s a moose called Marvin (ha actually that’s just what the tag said so that’s what his name became) he sleeps near me! :)

Cute. What is something that makes you smile? Well I just smiled when I talked about my Teddy bear Marvin. But there are a million things that make me smile and one of them being my best Friend.

Awesome. I was listening to a podcast this morning which stated that those who smile more, live longer! It’s important to SMILE!

And lastly…what do you do to RELAX? Watch movies, play on my iPhone, read books, hang out with friends, and a glass of wine once in a while.

THANK YOU for doing this interview. I know all your dreams will come true. I love your blog and love keeping tabs on your updates. You website is fun too.

Keep doing what you do and making people smile:)

  • Hello! How I have missed you all. I can’t believe it has taken this long to get my darn internet hooked up. This morning I even switched from Telus to Shaw because Shaw could get me hooked up tomorrow morning (vs Telus who could not get here until Thursday) Seriously frustrating but instead of boo hoo complaining, I’ll have internet tomorrow so let’s move onJ

I have something that will cheer us all UP UP UP! It is… (drum roll please….)

May’s Tomboy That Wears Makeup Of The Month!!! May is my absolute favourite month of the year, so I chose a special gal near and dear to my heart to be this month’s feature. I assure you- she is one brilliant young lady. Her name is Margarita Vailas and she is my cousin!! She is very inspiring to me and I can’t wait for you to meet her!

Margarita, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m almost 26 years old. I have an amazing family. I live life to its fullest. I have no regrets. I live one day at a time. I love challenges of any kind. I’m half Greek and half English/Norwegien. I speak 2 languages fluently.

You do live life to its fullest and I admire that! I love that you are Greek and our English/Norwegien side is pretty sweet too! You recently just finished a 40 day detox (and you look amazing!) Tell us about what you did, how you stayed loyal to it and why!! The 40 day challenge I did was to eat anything without animal products. Even if something had egg or milk, I couldn’t have it. I’m already almost a full vegetarian so it wasn’t too difficult. My biggest challenge was cutting out the milk. I LOVE milk. I put it in my coffee, my oatmeal and usually drink a glass every evening. I think I would like to be a full vegan though. I didn’t mind the soy milk either. I enjoyed experimenting with my meals too, and I learned to drink coffee without milk. I cut back on a lot too! It was an amazing detox!

40 days?! wow- HIGH FIVE! I’m sure getting those abs was worth it though!  You are such a great makeup artist too, so creative. What are your favorite Beauty Products? My favourite products for me are the “Multiple” by NARS, my “Ample Pink” lip glass by MAC and my “GINGER” concealer by NARS. I feel it’s all I need to get through my day- as a professional I could mention a lot more but for myself those 3 are all I need.

I have Ample Pink and the “multiple’ by Nars. I have never tried their concealer- but I’m thinking I should! Tell us a couple of you favorite makeup tips. The key, in my opinion, to any makeup, is great skin. Like any artist, you need the perfect canvas, but in makeup we are able to fix the canvas if we need to. I use a gentle cleanser 2 times a day on my skin with a moisturizer (SPF in the morning and something lighter at night). Never forget to wash off your makeup. (My favourite remover is by biotherm). I try to not change my products on my skin too often so it doesn’t freak but I’ve always had a good routine. Also when I put on my makeup, I like to not be in a rush. It’s something I enjoy. Even at work I’m never in a hurry. I have fun with it and my guests. Whether it’s a photoshoot or a wedding, keeping calm will lead to great work. Also…..listen to music. It helps the imagination. I don’t know if I’m the only makeup artist to say this or if I’m just lucky to have always worked with easy photographers and brides (haha!)

Great tips! I take my time too. I sit on the floor in frontof the mirror and just sort of zone out. I need to play more music- thanks for that refresher! K- what’s your favorite quote? The quotes that I’ve always lived by were by my parents. So either it’s because they were my parents or the quotes were that good. Mum always said: “Always be Independant”. You never know the future so always be strong and be able to take care of #1(you). Father always said: “Don’t get mad, Get even”. There is no need to get mean and be as bad as anyone who has ever treated you bad. Their time will come I guess, but always be great and only give as much as you take and only take as much as you want to give.

They sure raised you and your 2 brothers well! What is your greatest achievement? I feel as though I’ve achieved so many things. My dream was always to move to Greece, and I did when I was 22. It’s been an insane journey but I’ve achieved more than I ever dreamed. I started a water sport, Kitesurfing. I knew I wanted to do something in the ocean and I finally found it. I’ve always been outdoorsy and have recently discovered I love rock climbing. Basically I’ve become way more active than I ever was, but in new ways that I enjoy. It’s the part of me that was buried very deep.

That is fantastic! You are on such a roll! I also know what a great cook you are. What is you tastiest, healthiest masterpiece? Last year I taught myself how to clean a big fish. I think this is my favourite meal, but what I do is once I clean all my fish I stuff it with celery, carrots, onions and parsley. I place it on an alluminum foil and drizzle it with lemon and place lemon slices on top of the fish. I then cut up some potatoes in bite sizes (however you like really) and put a good handful with each fish. (1 fish per person). Freshly ground pepper and good quality olive oil. Close up the foil, and in the oven it goes! So delicious and healthy!

Nice work. If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be? Leonardo DiCaprio. I love him! He’s so good looking, AND he’s a great actor. You don’t usually see both in one guy! Realistically though!? My boss. He’s also brilliant, and he owes me sushi!

Oh la la.. Marg + Leo.. lol…Whom else do you admire? I admire everyone that has ever past through my life, but for a different reason. The person I admire most is my mother. She sacrificed lots for her family. She knows what’s important to her. She knows what she loves. She knows what she hates. She doesn’t hide anything, whether it’s good or bad. She’s beautiful. She’s emotional. She loves trying things at least once. She’s who I can only dream of becoming!

Your mom totally rocks. I love this video of you 2 having a skipping contest! Go Auntie Karen;)

What is something about yourself people may not know?

I don’t hide much about myself. Usually when people ask me things, I answer. Belly buttons gross me out! Ive thought of getting it pierced just to get over it! haha, does that count!?

Haha! What’s something that makes you smile? A lot of things make me smile. I think one of the things on the top of this list is when I see random people that are alone on the bus or train that just start laughing and can’t control themselves, cause they thought of something or read something funny in a book. Cracks me up to see that! If I need to smile, I just think of something happy that has happened to me, too!

What is your biggest fear? My biggest fear is probably the “End of the World”. I’m a very eco-friendly person. I recycle, and I reuse and I will fill up an entire garbage bag every time I go to the beach. What scares me is that there’s more people doing bad than good to the planet. Another reason I’d love lunch with Leonardo DiCaprio is because of his documentary “The 11th Hour”. Although I know what’s happening and don’t need the education like some others, I have major psychological problems every time I watch a documentary about the earth! I really recommend for others to help even just a little!

Hmm, I should watch that movie. I am not as green as you are- which I give you credit for. I need to step it up a bit. What is the best thing about living in Greece? The best thing about living in Greece is the natural beauty! The ocean, the mountains! It’s the most amazing feeling, waking up knowing you’re in one of the oldest, most beautiful places on earth. The weather is usually awesome. It only rains in the winter which Im fine with. I grew up in Winnipeg so it’s the opposite here! Because I”m so active, I’m able to be outside year round. Even in the winter I wear my wet suit and go in the ocean. Greece also has so much history and so much to do. I’ve travelled to so many parts of Greece and Im shocked every single time. I lived on the island of Santorini, where my father is from, in 2008, too, which was one of my greatest experiences. I’ve travelled to London, England, and all the countries in Europe are so close!

Yup -I’m so jealous! I can’t believe I haven’t been out there yet. I promise I will come visit you soon!

And lastly what do you do to RELAX?

Exercise really eases my mind, but I really enjoy going down to the beach and sitting there looking into the ocean, listening to the water, sometimes reading a book, and honestly sometimes even taking a nap!

Wowzers Margarita! Keep up the beautiful, bountiful, wonderful energy you continue to share with the world. I love you sooooo much and that you for doing this interview!
