  • Hello!

After all my bickering yesterday, I actually got around to doing those wonderful activities that make me feel better. 6am yoga was glorious. The sun was actually rising as we were doing the salutations. Great way to start the day. I will be going 3 mornings a week. I bought a 3 month pass!

I also cleaned my place! Woot woot. I didn’t do like a spring clean 5000 or anything, but everything went back in it’s place and it is clean!
The dog continues to be deathly afraid of the vacuum cleaner, haha

Here’s a GREAT TIP (Contemporary Feng Shui with Mark Ainley)
Take a shelf, empty it, dust and clean it off, and put things back. You may notice a different relationship with the objects and the space, even if you place everything back as you did (and you probably won’t…). A great simple way to both clean and refresh!

Cool hey? I love that Feng Shui stuff.

Below is a basic feng shui bagua chart. This chart can be a lot more complex, but this is a simple, powerful, and useful chart to map out your home.

To use it, simply draw out your floor plan, and superimpose this chart over your living space. Hold it so that it can be read while you are standing at your front door looking in.* Depending on whether your front door is to the left, middle or right of your house, this will mean it will be in either the Knowledge, Career or Helpful People section. This will allow you to determine the area of your home that relates to an area of your life. (I got this from accessfengshui.com)

    Here’s another home map.

They are very cool. I have used them before!

I had a trip to the dentist today (BOOOOO). While I layed there with metal things flying at my mouth, the dentist and the assistant (2 females) were discussing how one of their uncles who was 72 had an affair with his wife’s best friend who was only 45. Then they talked about 9/11 being a conspiracy. Then they talked about how Cameron Diaz and A-Rod broke up. Then they talked about the dentists husband and how he is in a HUGE fight with his brother. I couldn’t turn the headphones to the tv up loud enough! haha

I came home and tried to clear my mind by backing Raw Sunburgers!

    Here is the recipe:

So I soaked the sunflowers seeds..

    Processed them..

Processed the carrots and added them to the sunflower seed mush.

Blended up the rest of the ingredients and stirred it all together.

Then placed them in my oven where they are now dehydrating. I started the first hour at 120 degrees and now they are at 105 degrees. They are almost done.

The are supposed to look like this! Mmm, this was one of the delicious meals at Ocean Resort’s Spa and Raw food weekend.

Here’s the video we made from that weekend.

I was so inspired by that trip. THIS weekend I am becoming a certified raw chef. woo hoo.

I just really like eating raw when possible. Eating live, living raw food that feeds and nourishes the cells.

Namaste my friends! Talk tomorrow!!! xoxo

  • Happy Monday Beautiful YOU!

I am officially into week 3 (day 15) of my raw eating and I am LOVING it. There have definitely been some ups and downs. Like wanting a beer soooo bad after Whistler and then yesterday I just wanted a “cheat day” but I somehow remained true to my word! So to satisfy those cravings, I made an unbelievable raw, vegan cheesecake!

Here she is just out of the freezer, (tastes even better nice and cold!)

Raw Vegan Cheesecake, dairy free cheesecake

I adapted this recipe from the only and only Raw Rose’s new Canadian Best Selling book. Here’s a shot of us when were on Vancouver Island. Angels sang when I got my hands on this wonderful “uncooking” book! I love it!

I highly recommend this book for healthy, alternative recipes that are raw AND vegan!

Here is the recipe I followed.

The only difference is that I added raspberries to the batter. The “crust” of the cake is pecans and dates. The filling is cashews, dates, coconut oil, water, lemon juice, vanilla, a pinch of salt and raspberries (which I added)

raw vegan cheese cake, dairy free cheesecake

And that’s it!! Followed everything else closely to her recipe and I thought it turned out delicious.

Raw Vegan Cheesecake, dairy free cheesecake

I’m not really know for my food photography, lol, but you get the drift.

    raw vegan, dairy free cheesecake

It stays in the freezer, so you can pull it out when you need a fix!

See- RAW can be everything you want and more. I can’t wait to try more recipes…They are great for when you are starting out with Raw Food. It makes the transition easier and more filling knowing that you can still have those “comfort” foods. The nice thing is that it’s straight live enzymes that you body can break down easily and use up immediately- no processed chemical toxins in anything! I take a B12 supplement and everything else I could ever need as far as protein, minerals, vitamins, is all in fresh, ripe raw foods. (I am starting to sound like the raw foodies I interview, lol- It is just that good though) I’m not saying it is for everyone, but it works for me!

    Next topic!

We went to Stormtech today for a meeting.

    I <3 this place!

Our meeting went well. We are signed on to shoot a bunch more videos! Woo hoo

Here’s Mike getting inspired by the new fall catalogue:)

I had a big voice job to do today too, so its been a long and busy day. Almost done editing the voice files, blog is about to be published and the bed is my next stop!

    Have a wonderful evening!

  • Ok! LET’S DO THIS!!! “By “this”, I mean BLOG baby BLOG! haha

Woke up at the crack of dawn to hit up the Coquitlam Farmers Market.

Apparently, we can’t afford travel coffee mugs, we took our java to go in our regular mugs…. (I must have inherited this from my mother, step foot in her car and she has regular mugs everywhere!)

coffee in a mug, on the go

Beckmann Berry Farm. Friendly, check. Fresh produce, check. Tasty, check. Best price at the market? CHECK. 5lb box of blueberries now sit in my freezer:)

I took this picture of Beets purely for my own reference… Must eat beets…maybe buy some next time? Anyone have any good RAW beet recipes?

Raspberries…now you see the few I have left…

    fresh vancouver, raspberries

    And…now ya don’t!

Your gonna start thinking I’m strictly a food blog, but I’m not. Although, I just happened to attend a “Raw food for Beauty” un-cooking class at Indigo Food Cafe today.

Upon arriving the cafe was very inviting.

Owner of Indigo Food, Lovena Galyide used to be an architect. She discovered Raw Food and became so passionate about it, she quit her job and opened up a raw food cafe in Vancouver on 16th Street. She really knows her stuff too. I am a hard sell, lol, but I was following her every word..

I was going to pick up this guitar and serenade everyone during the class, but I decided to stay hush.

LADIES! IF YOU WANT HEALTHY, GLOWING SKIN, incorporate these foods into your diet:

    - Aloe Vera Juice (the yellow leaves taste a trillion times better than the green. But use green for skin!), Nettles, Arugula, Watercress, Burdock Root, Turmeric, Coconut, Cucumbers, Durian, Figs, Hemp Seeds and Oils, Macadamia nuts, Pumpkin Seeds, Radish, Olives, Onion and Papaya.

The first skin elixor we tasted was orange, papaya and aloe vera juice. Tasty. No issues here.

    aloe vera elixer for beauty

Add bottled aloe vera juice to your morning juice/shakes if you can’t get aloe vera fresh.

lily of the desert aloe vera juice

Another Beauty Tonic. This was made with Burdock power, Apples, and celery. I need to get my hands on some burdock root (not for taste, but for health benefits)

indido cafe vancouver, green smoothie for skin

We got into some raw fermentation of coconut. I was not a fan. I know the probiotics are good for you, but I don’t like the taste of fermented coconut, no matter how much agave you add!

    fermented coconut yogurt

I will start drinking coconut water though… more to come on that!

Here we have dehydrated kale chips. yum. Remember I used to bake them all the time? I’m not against baking at all, but if they taste just as good dehydrating- why not save some nutrients? So I actually have a batch in my oven (which has a dehydration feature- OMG- score!)

    nutritional yeast dehydrated kale chips

Add arugula and watercress to your salads!! It is fabulous. Also on our plate was raw falafels (made with pumpkin seed and a million other things, I couldn’t write everything down fast enough- but I still want to get the recipe)

    raw falafel, arugula salad

Durian. A fruit I hear all about- but never try… These ones were dehydrated. Apparently amazing for skin.

    durian

Again, I learnt a ton today. I am becoming more passionate about raw foods everyday.  Day 7 of my raw food celebration and I am feeling FANTASTIC!!!  At 8pm I still felt the same amount of energy I had when I hopped out of bed this morning. It really is amazing how this lifestyle makes you feel! I can’t wait to continue this…and learn more along the way..

OK Painter picture of the day… He looks like a sleeping angel sent from heaven… BUT………

He is TROUBLE IN DISGUISE…  (I’m telling ya!)

    bug puppy
I love him soooo much though. It hasn’t even been a month and I am so obsessed, so in love.

How is your long weekend going? I got a voice gig for a “teenager” spot that I will voice tomorrow. Do all these health foods for skin make your voice younger too? Apparently. tee hee

Talk soon!!! Lots of love and light and beautiful skin!!!
    xoxoxo

  • Hey ya!!! My weekend was fantastic. I feel like I am just skimming the surface with the live/raw foods thing. I am pretty passionate about it. I will never fully restrict myself from anything, or claim to be 100% this or that… but I do believe that raw foods heal and I am wanting to explore some more.

    thumbs up to raw fod

Last nights raw gourmet dinner was like “pigs in a blanket”  but made with nut alfredo sauce, dates and eggplant (sounds gross, but I promise, it was so tasty.

raw vegan dates wrapped in eggplant

Main course was delicious fresh greens from the garden, with a garden burger made with carrots, peppers, flax seed, etc.

    sungarden burgers, raw food

Can you believe this cheesecake is 100% raw/vegan. I watched her make it. Unreal. I am trying this recipe.

    raw vegan gourmet cheesecake

What we ate this weekend was on the gourmet end of raw. One would never want to consume so many fats from nuts, but it is amazing food for the transitional period from a processed diet. Hits the spot/cravings on so many levels.

    ocean resort vancouver island

After dinner and a little walk on the property Mike and I hit up the Steam Room….

    infrared sauna ocean resort

And then double the heat with an infrared sauna session. I like the infrared better than the steam…. You?

This rejuvenating weekend left someone tired…..

    Painter the bug puppy

Painter was such a good boy the whole trip. We took the ferry home this afternoon.

Now at home and back to work tomorrow. I may be trying a raw food lifestyle for a while… we’ll discuss tomorrow.

Have a fantastic evening! Sending you love, light and health and wealth!

  • “Be the change you want to be.”

    Simple to do? or Hard?

I think it’s easier once you get there, but it’s extremely hard to get there… That’s why events like this retreat can really help kick-start and rejuvenate you- body, mind and spirit.

I am always striving to better myself in all areas of my life- health, wealth, spirit, quality of life, etc. If you want to give yourself a boost in the right direction, I highly recommend doing something like I have this weekend at Ocean Resort.

Started the morning with a zen/hatha/yin type yoga class.

    It was refreshing.

    Yoga at Ocean resort

Then we were back in the dining hall for breakfast. Green shakes hit the spot.

    ocean resort green shake

Another Raw meal- soaked oaks with berries and cashew/almond milk with a serving of fresh fruit.

    ocean resort hotel and spa

After breakfast we had a little break to chill out and then back for some Gourmet Raw Cooking Classes. Here are some Raw “meat”balls about to go in the dehydrator.

    meatless meatballs

I’m going to get the recipes for all the stuff we made and shared it here. Our teacher was the amazing chef Carol, who is also a certified Raw Chef. I am going to get certified as a raw chef somewhere, somehow.

    carol, chef, ocean resort

Check out this Raw Meal- Fresh Cabbage from the garden, with tomatoes, orange peppers, fresh zucchini cut into angel hair strips.  and our meatless meatballs made out of cashews, basil, onion, (and I forget what else)

Here’s the fresh cabbage from the garden.

    Onsite garden..

I came in our hotel room to load some pictures and Painter had hacked my facebook account. Lol

    puppy typing

This place has been fun for him because we don’t need to leash him and he can rip around the yard. Our dinner RAWsome, ofcourse (I’ll share pictures later) We also went in the steam room and infrared sauna.

I’m just so beat it’s time for bed. I hope your having a beautiful weekend and I will check in with you tomorrow.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by. Lots of love.
