I met up with some girlfriends to go for a hike tonight. On the sunniest day we’ve had so far this year, I forget my sunglasses! I jumped in Dee’s car and dug around in her glove box for shades. I didn’t find shades, but I found these sweeeeet baby blue specs….
We went hiking up in Deep Cove. Gabby (the gorgeous brunette in the middle) and I go WAAAY back and I haven’t seen her in FOREVER. Sooo great to see you girl.
Thanks to Dee, Gabby and Erin for the wonderful company. Can’t wait until our next venture! (we want to meet up more frequently for hikes. We all love it)
Look at this cool Bubble Tea shop in Deep Cove that has a choo choo train going through the shop!
I also saw my beloved choir -ex-choir, I’m too busy:( singing in the park. It warmed my heart and made me want to cry, listening to them sing those beautiful familiar songs and to hear Checo singing his heart out. Check out me with the choir here (and also find out how I sang back ups for New Kids On The Block!)
Day 5 of my Raw Food Celebration!!!!!! Mike and I had a meeting at Starbucks at the mall. I actually survived the food court!!!
He had Taco Time and I ran up to Kin’s Market to get a peach…. Going strong in Raw Food land!!! Woot woot
Something not so strong is Painter’s ability to find his bed when he is tired. He looks like a drunk that stumbles home and misses his bed.. haha
So I pick him up and kiss his face and put him back in bed and he spreads eagle! haha
Just love him
Late post hey? Past my bedtime!! Have a terrific weekend. I am full of energy and ready to rock tomorrow. It’s kind of a work day since I had all last weekend off and next weekend we are away… need to catch up on a few things, but I promise I will relax too!!
When we checked into Ocean Resort last weekend, I found out I had a massage that same evening. We were in kind of a rush to make it to the first Raw Gourmet Dinner, so I quickly changed. I was wearing a g-string, but I wanted to put on granny undies since I was going in for the massage. (No masseuse wants to see my romping cheeks) So I put on my granny undies, but when I pulled up my pants, I guess my g-string hung on!!!!!
Even funnier is that Mike was filming for a video we are making and he didn’t even notice… (unless he’s really just evil and I don’t know it, lol)
I walked in and met a table full of people I didn’t know.
Here’s a shot of the room minus the people.
I was also getting up to take my plate to the window so I could get better lighting for pictures.
I didn’t notice it until way after dinner when I was in the spa about to get my massage. I was like, “what the?” Then it all came together when Mike and I were going through the footage we took and THERE IT WAS! WOW….. I mean, I’ve had a sock hanging out of my pant leg before- but NEVER a g-string out of the back of my jeans!! That is one for the books.
I’m sorry if that was TMI, but I had to share… Life is to short not to laugh these things off!
Namaste = “I see your light”
As for more subdued blog material, today was Day 4 of my Raw Food Challenge Celebration. I am going for 30 days! Some people ask me, so what do you have to do to be 100% RAW? I was reading choosingraw.com today and Gena, the blog’s author says it best,
“I’m not 100% raw and don’t aspire to be: my goal is to get a wide array of nutrients from as many delicious, plant-based sources as I can. Exclusively raw diets work for some people, but many others find them either nutritionally or psychologically limiting. I do, however, believe that most people can experience tremendous health benefits from adding more raw food to their diets. The title of my blog, then, evokes a lifestyle that encourages us to eat “close to nature,” and and encourages to make choices every day that emphasize raw food.”
Well said Gena. I couldn’t agree more. Everyone has there quotations and limits to what is “raw”, but really it’s what you make it. Eat as close to nature as possible. I must say though, I have been feeling great! I miss cooked food when I make it for Mike (today I made him an omelet and then some pasta) Or when I see Mike put cream and sugar in his coffee and mine is black..
During my challenge, I am trying not to think of what I can’t have, I am trying to see all I CAN have…
…like frozen blueberries..
Or these lettuce wraps I threw together.
Mushed up garlic, onion, avocado, tomato, and red pepper.
The were super quick and SUPER tasty.
That’s about all I got today! I went to a nice yoga class at the REC centre across the street and am winding down for the evening.
How was your day? Any embarrassing moments you’d like to share??? Please do!!!
Good afternoon (evening by the time this is posted I’m sure…[update: yep, it's now after 8pm]
I just got back from the dentist. My issue with dentists is an interesting one. Growing up, my mom always worked in a dentist office, (still does) so every time I went, she would be the one who greeted me at reception, held my hand during the whole process and let me RAID the prize drawer afterwards.
Ha, that kid above was totally me, except I took one of everything! lol
Now in my adult life, I am a weirdo and don’t like going to the dentist. There is a part of me that always wants my mom to walk in the room while I’m laying back on the chair and hold my hand. I basically don’t even give new offices a chance. I have a preconceived notion that I won’t like it before I even go. (then with the law of attraction in action- the universe gives me that- a bad experience)
Like a big girl I survived. I got my little dentist “goody bag”.
Except I HATE sensitive teeth toothpaste. Eeew (anyone want it? lol)
Ha- funny thing was I got home and I still had this metal clip wrapped around my neck! What the??
So I did what anyone would do and made my dog a necklace out of it.
He’s making a fashion statement, like flava flav with the big clock around his neck, Painter has a big stuffed animal around his neck.
Yo Yo Yo- New trend!
This trend was over faster than a New York minute!
We made up the perfect game to tire him out. Mike and I sit on the grass far away from each other and call out his name and he does sprints back and forth. This game lasts a long time!
Hee hee, what a guy. He’s so much fun.
DAY 3 of my raw food challenge!!!! For breakfast I had 2 frozen blended bananas, strawberries and some cinnamon. Today has gone well, some smells of bread and bbq make me melt a bit- but I am feeling good.
I also made some of my homemade Lara bars (just dates and almonds this time) and it really hits the spot. Munched on other raw foods, and finished a LONG LONG day with a glass of red wine:)
I had almost 10 voice jobs today. Very busy and just kept rocking all day. Now I am so beat. Voicing takes a lot of energy. Even if your just narrating. You need the utmost concentration and focus. Constantly giving it everything you got. That is why you CANNOT be in a bad mood and voice something. WON”T WORK! We just tried to voice one last job this evening, but I just couldn’t give it the oomph it needed, so we packed it in.
Now we are working on the video from our visit to Ocean Spa and Resort. Can’t wait to share it with you!!
Ahhhh, Port Moody sunset from my condo…
Thanks for stopping by today! Much much love and light to you!
Day 2 of my Raw Food “Celebration!” I will get onto how I am feeling about that in a minute-But first off, my big excitement was recording in a studio today that was not my own! (nothing against my beautiful little magical sound booth) but check this place out, Woot Woot.
I got a gig as a character named “Charlotte” for some animation stuff Telus is doing. There are 5 characters and I am the leader of the pack!
While I was recording, the producer would play back the other voice talents lines, so I could get a feel for the energy and how to throw my lines out. It would be even cooler if the voice talents were actually there int he room with me, but I am not that big-time….yet;)
The owner Paul, was kind enough to give me a tour of the place. Michael Buble recorded his first breakout album here.
They record a lot of tv and film scores here, as well as musicians. I could really get used to recording here. They say if it all goes well, this spot will be recurring and I will visit it a lot more. I am crossing my fingers! I felt confident in there today. All the years of practice, I actually feel like a pro when I’m recording, like I belong!!!
After I was done, I went downtown to see a friend I haven’t seen in a looooong time. Her name is Chelsea, she is an occupational therapist and former PRO beach volleyball player. She is spending the summer in Vancouver and it was glorious to catch up with her.
One thing I noticed as I was tooling around downtown was the barge for the fireworks at English Bay. Last summer we had a spectacular view of the fireworks from our downtown apartment.
Everytime the fireworks were on, we had friends over to enjoy them with us!
This is how craaaazy it was down at the beach. (view from our old apartment!)
I admit when I saw the barge out in the water, I missed our old apartment, but it’s ok, I am soooooooooo happy with where we are right now.
Onto Day 2 of my Raw Food Celebration. Going good, going good. The only time I was really needing girth was when I came home from downtown, I needed an IV of Raw foods in me, pronto!
Some of the raw Food I consumed today- 2 bananas for breakfast, brought an apple and a bag of carrots on the road with me, black iced coffee when I met Chelsea, watermelon and cherries when I came home and a big salad for dinner with a whole avocado, sunflower seeds, cucumber, red pepper, tomato, romaine lettuce, and lemon juice and dill as a dressing (I did NOT like the dressing!!!)
I’m excited for the Farmers Market this weekend. Mike and I are going to buy a BOX of peas, among other lush, fresh ripe fruits and veggies! Whewf, I had moments today when I thought, wow this is only day 2- but for the most part it has been easy…One day at a time….
And tomorrow is looking like another nuts-o day, with a trip to the dentist thrown into the mix as well… Going to clean up a bit around here and get ready for tomorrow.
I hope everything is going great with you. Thanks for the comments yesterday. I really appreciate the support:) Talk to you soooooooooooooon.
How’s your Monday been? Mine’s been good. Chalk full of voiceover revisions, jobs and auditions. I also just got back from a really intense bootcamp class at the REC center across the street. I was feeling the usual Monday laziness of “do I really have to go to the gym?”. When I need some inspiration, I text my brother to see what his training program is for the week, and that alone is enough to get off my butt.
The blurry picture on the right is when he got 3rd in the Saskatoon half marathon. My bro trains himself and is a super successful athlete. (Thanks bro for always inspiring me)
Also, I just learnt how to take a screen shot on my iphone (I always wondered how bloggers take pictures of their texts) You need to hold down the shut down button and press the home button twice.
Do you love that info or what? Just so you know, this is now going to be a techie blog where I talk about the latest technology. (haha, ya right!)
This will never be a techie blog, however, I am always open to try new things that could potentially lead to more health, abundance, vitality and overall quality of life:
ENTER….My 30 day Raw Food “Celebration”!!!! I am blessed enough to have a friend guiding me through this challenge celebration. (One of his first tips was to call it a celebration and not a challenge… makes sense…) My help is from Chris Kendall, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, lifelong athlete, and 100% Raw Food Lifestyle Coach.
Read the indepth interview I did with Chris a while back. It is great because I can always ask him any questions and he provides the utmost support and insight. I have also been doing a fair bit of reading on the topic and I am ready and excited to do a 30 day Raw Food Celebration. The last 2 weeks, I have been eating tons of fruits and veggies anyway, now it is just cutting out the processed garbage. I am still going to have the occasional black coffee and glass of red wine. Other than that, this quote from Chris sums up my next 30 days.
“There is nothing nutritionally your body needs that can not be found in its highest quality, most easily digestible, and easily assimilated state than in fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruits, young tender leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.” Bam. there ya have it.
Check out this video. I recently watched the whole movie.
There is a curiosity I want to see for myself. If your not ready to try a raw “celebration”. Ask yourself, what are a couple processed things you can eliminate from your diet, or even better- add a delicious green shake to your breakfast menu.
Here’s the yummy green shake I made today. (It’s kind of a variation of my old classic green shake)
I used frozen spinach, strawberries, banana, parsley, cilantro and kale.
Add in freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice
And Voila! Vibrant enzyme filled drink in your belly!
Try your own variation. After a week of drinking these for breakfast- you will feel amazing.
At the retreat this weekend, I met another Raw Food Guru, they call her “Raw Rose”. She has a Canadian Best selling Raw Food cook book and I was lucky enough to get a copy this weekend!!!!!
Rose and I (we did an interview I will post once it’s edited)
Most of the other people that attended the retreat were really inspired to stay raw after. We all got each others emails and are going to keep in touch and support one another.
I will obviously keep you posted on my journey here. Guerilla Journalism at it’s finest. Today was day 1. I had bananas, kale, spinach, carrots, pineapple, peas, orange juice, cherries, strawberries. I worked out too and I’m feeling great! Day 1 has been a success.
