Aw, man.. I wrote a whole post and it got erased…. so here is a quickened version of what I wrote. Grrr.. wordpress.. Actually I think it was this laptop…need a NEW one!
I got a mail slip from the post office that I had a package waiting for me…. Ohhhh exciitng!!!
However, when I opened the box.. I thought, am I reading this right? Formula? Is this a joke? Or a box my box filled with something else?
Nope! I was randomly shipped a box of formula from Similac. I have NO idea how they got my address, or how they know i’m pregnant. They have a super sneaky marketing department! I’m going to give breast feeding a good shot, but if I need formula… I guess I already have some? I’ll definitely research the best brand cause as of now, I have no idea is Similac is even good. I know NOTHING about baby stuff!!
Mike and I went to Red Robin for the last time for a while. I had my trusty “Mesa-chicken salad sub a veggie patty for the chicken.” Always so good!
Then I had another Ultrasound. This time at the Jim Pattison Outpatient Center in Surrey. Holy state of the art posh place! They wanted to rule out a few more things, and everything is looking amazing. During the ultrasound I had a very experience fetal monitoring expert working on me, along with a nice big flat screen TV right in front of me, so I could watch every move the baby made during the ultrasound. Little bugger was smiling lots and we got a good look at him in 4D- he looked a lot like MIKE! Big ukrainian cheeks! lol. Such strong legs too. He is such a handsome, healthy, strapping young lad- I’m in love already!
After my Ultrasound, I had to switch gears. I had an audition downtown at GO Studios for a Hellmann’s Mayo commercial.
It was my first time at this studio, it was super nice. I LOVE big auditions like this. I know I am getting closer to landing one of these big ones…
I was in the “Hello Kitty” room. They have lots of different rooms with fun names. I purrred my way through the audition. They gave me 3 takes and I felt really good about them!
Today I went for coffee and a walk with my girlfriend, worked some scripts, went for a walk with Mike and dog, continued packing and cleaning. Now I am just relaxing. This prego gal needs some r and r!!!!!
I have been waiting to feature Rileah Vanderbilt as our “Tomboy That Wears Makeup of the Month” for a long time now.
Before I dive in, I’ll give you some background.
Where is Rileah from?Rileah grew up in Cripple Creek, Colorado, a small mountain town on the backside of Pikes Peak.
What was growing up in Cripple Creek like? From a very early age she was involved with school and community theatre as well as organized school sports including cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, track and baseball.
Where did I met Rileah? I met Rileah in Hollywood when we both waitressed at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on Sunset Blvd.
So what does Rileah do?She is an accomplished Actress, living in Hollywood, married to director Adam Green.
What else? She’s a known geek and enjoys comics, video games, costuming, fantasy books, Star Wars and all things Sci-fi.
It’s been a while since we’ve chatted, but thank you so much for doing this interview, you have come a LONG way since our Rainbow days and I am so proud of you, let’s get right into it….what inspires you?
I’m inspired by anything that’s creative! It’s probably the reason I became so involved with the film and television industry. I love being surrounded by other people who are just as passionate as I am about life. I love optimism and the idea that tomorrow can be whatever you want it to be:)
Wow, that is awesome. I too believe that “Dreamers are the saviours of the world”. You are definitely a dreamer. What motivates you?
Passion is the biggest motivator for me.
I know you love makeup as much as I do. What is your favorite Beauty Product?
Wow, this is a hard one! There’s just too many out there. I really love my curling wand. Basically, it’s a curling iron with out the clamp. It’s the only way my hair holds curl and it give you this really beautiful wave.
I now want one of these. What is your biggest fear?
Not utilizing time while I have it. Sometimes I look back at what I was doing ten years ago and realize now that if I had just spend my time really focusing on what I was passionate about, I’d be much further a long in life.
My goodness girl, don’t sweat it- you are a rockstar! One of my favorite quotes is, “Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you will go!!!” What is your favorite quote?
This one is hard too! There’s too many that I love. Guess I’ll have to go Disney and say, ” A dream is wish your heart makes.”
Nice, what is your greatest achievement?
Starting my own production company. Getting married.
Here is Rileah and her hubby Adam…
Rileah produced and starred in the web hits G33k & G4M3R Girls, A Very Zombie Holiday, superHarmony and Alien Beach Crashers.
Here is Team Unicorn, a group of friends and actresses dedicated to spreading geek awareness.
Here is one of her videos that got over 1 million hits in it’s first week on Youtube!
Haha I love it!!!!
What would you say has been your greatest struggle so far?
Still not being exactly where I see myself being at this time.
If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?
I’m sure Steven would love Team Unicorn!
What is something about yourself people may not know?
I have two tattoos. The chinese symbol for “friendship” that I share with a couple of my high school friends. And the chinese symbol for “sugar”. My sister has “spice”.
Here’s Rileah, her mom and sister at her Mad Hatter themed bridal shower.
Beautiful family.. What’s something that makes you smile?
My husband. He’s constantly making me laugh.
Cute. When did you discover your passion for comics and video games?
When I was a kid. I loved reading and would read anything I could get my hands on including comics and my mother’s fantasy books. I think I read through Lord of the Rings when I was 9. I got into video games because of my brother, he had a Nintendo.
I love that picture of you girls! So fun, and such cute dresses. What is your fall fashion must have?
Brown knee high riding boots.
(Rileah is always looking so stylish…)
Do you have a healthy snack or recipe that you would like to share?
I’m a big fan of roasted red pepper hummus and Triscuit crackers. Beats potato chips and junk food!
Yum! What is your ultimate idea of relaxation?
A 2 week vacation in the Maldives! More practically, a whirlpool bathtub, candles, music, and a good book.
That works for me!! Rileah, thank you sooo much for doing this interview. Keep up the amazing work. I know all your dreams will come true! (remember when we used to climb the Santa Monica stairs? good times) Hope to see you again soon and if I don’t see you in person, I know we’ll see you on the big screen!!
Here’s to a brand new month full of pure potential, bountiful energy and LOVE!
I am soooo excited right now. My fingers can’t type fast enough to keep up with the overflowing joy I have for today’s interview. If you are new to my website, I’ll fill you in. Since I started this blog, on the first of every month I interview a fun, fearless, inspiring, glowing, motivating and vibrant female. I call her my “Tomboy That Wears Makeup of The Month”. I feel so blessed with the women who have graced the pages of these posts and June’s feature is no exception.
Her name is Jenny Fletcher. She is a Pro Triathlete/model.
Jenny! I know how busy you are and first off I want to thank you for doing this interview. Tell us, what inspired you to get into triathlons? I’ve always loved sports. As a kid I grew up doing everything and any sport I could. Tap, Jazz, Ballet, horse riding, basketball, volleyball, track and field, Tetrathlon, and Modern Pentathlon…. It was a natural movement to go from Pentathlon into triathlons. I’ve always loved multi sports. I stopped being competitive to pursue my modeling career but it was still deep inside of me that desire to be competitive and at a high level.
You easily could have just continued to model full time, but I love that you followed your passion of sport and dedicated yourself to it. What are some of your goals in the triathlon world? My goal is to continue to better my times and also continue to be a competitive force out there. I know to take things in stride I have started into this sport late in life and still have a ways to go but I know it is within me and I just keep striving to do better. I want to be finishing in the top 5 with the goal of being on the podium and one day winning a big race!
You can do it! How many races will you do this year? Way too many (lol) I love to train and am hesitant in the races so I signed up for a lot to get my fear out of my system. I think there are about 17 races on my schedule!
Wow, good for you. How intense are your workouts?Very intense. They take a lot out of me. I find I want to sleep a lot more as my body is fighting to recover… But I love to train so I just keep getting out of bed every morning to go at it again!
Awesome. Do you ever miss days because you feel lazy or are just not into it?Yep! Very rarely. But generally it’s because I’ve been training hard, or traveling and racing and I’ll ask coach if it is okay if she says yes… I crawl back into bed with a smile on my face! I love my days of rest!
I need less days of rest! When I am feeling lazy, I am going to think of you busting your butt! What are some of your nutrition tips for staying hydrated and fuelled during training?Always drink. Always fuel. You can’t get behind in these two things as it will be too late.
Check! What has been your absolute most favorite race?Escape From Alcatraz and Alp Du Huez Triathlon. I love a challenging race. And 2 yrs ago I won the overall AG for Escape so it has good memories.
Nice. What are some “insider” tips you would give to someone just getting into triathlons?Baby steps. Everything takes time. Set realistic goals and write out what you are doing and have done. It’s great to look back on and see progress or things that need to change etc.
I need to write down my workouts/training programs better and more consistently. Great advice. Besides triathlons, what are some other things you enjoy doing? Hanging with friends, spur of the moment things, laughing, chilling, going out for dinners or meeting friends for coffee and always love going to the movies and eating popcorn!
Fun! I love your shoes in this above picture! What is your favorite beauty product? Lavanila perfume. So good!
Ohh! I just looked at Lavanila’s website! All natural and organic too! What has been your favourite modelling job or contract to date?Aghh hard question. Love the jobs where I have fun with the people I’m working with. After doing this career for so long it’s not about the jobs sometimes it’s about the memories made with the people I am working together with.
“You got legs and know how to use them!”
What’s your street style? Jeans, tshirt, and flip flops generally. But I love Fashion. I’m always mixing it up!
You and Jessica Biel, no big deal! lol What is your favorite quote? I have a few but the one that sticks out in my mind is one I just read from C.S Lewis… “You are never to old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream….” This is what I hope to achieve in inspiring others-it’s never too late!
I love that and couldn’t agree more. I think people give up too fast with the “I’m old” mentality. You are as old as you think you are! K, what is you greatest achievement? Living life to the fullest.
Yes you do. What is your biggest fear?Failure.
We have a lot in common, keeps us moving forward right? If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be? My close friends or family… I know general answer… But you think I’m gonna tell the whole world
Hee, hee. Who do you admire? Anyone who is living their dreams and inspiring others.
Live Earth, what a great cause. I wonder who would win in a race though- Jenny or Pete? lol. What is something about yourself people may not know? Ummmm….. Im sure there are loads of things… But let’s see… I have a little Teddy bear it’s a moose called Marvin (ha actually that’s just what the tag said so that’s what his name became) he sleeps near me!
Cute. What is something that makes you smile?Well I just smiled when I talked about my Teddy bear Marvin. But there are a million things that make me smile and one of them being my best Friend.
Awesome. I was listening to a podcast this morning which stated that those who smile more, live longer! It’s important to SMILE!
And lastly…what do you do to RELAX? Watch movies, play on my iPhone, read books, hang out with friends, and a glass of wine once in a while.
THANK YOU for doing this interview. I know all your dreams will come true. I love your blog and love keeping tabs on your updates. You website is fun too.
One sleep until our trip to Florida! So stoked. We just busted our butts the last 5 days- so a few days of chilling out and doing nothing is definitely in the forecast! We filmed and edited 4 videos in 5 days! It has been challenging, but so rewarding. Waking up this morning knowing that all I can stay home and clean, pack, organize and edit was such a treat!
I’ll start with packing.… The weather in Florida is about 30′ everyday that we are there- so jean shorts and tanks are a must!
I am limiting myself to runners and these 3 pair
I bought this dress about 10 days ago when my mom was here. Definitely going to sport this one down there!
Now we’ll move onto the cleaning! I have everything going… washer, dryer and dishwasher!
I recently bought this little devil and I LOVE it! Why am I just buying one now?? Why haven’t I had one for years?
My mom always used to make me “dust” every Sunday when I was little. It was annoying cause I had to take everything off the shelves and then put everything back. If I would have had this when I was 8, I would have happily dusted for mama.
Hard to reach places are a breeze! (didn’t quite reach the back of my fridge- may need to get one of the long handled ones)
It was great for places like this:
Moving on to the organizing. Going through receipts and papers. Nothing fabulous to report here. Threw away some junky papers like this, sorry Mike! (he thought we might use this coupon…but seriously…Nissan Service and Parts? When and WHY? haha)
I’ve saved the best for last!
The EDITING! Please watch this video! We filmed this on Saturday at the Down Set Hut Football Camp!
That was a lot of fun!
Excuse me while I finish my Special K cereal sans milk. (we pretty much ate everything perishable so onto the dried goods until the morning.)
Thanks for watching (and reading:) We’ll do this again tomorrow, same place… and I have no idea as of now what time! Depends if I get wireless in the Houston airport and how much time we have before the connecting flight! I can do it though! Have a great day!!!!
