  • Oh golly gosh darn! Hello there!

Today one of my clients informed me that a new running app that I voiced was now available for purchase on itunes!
I was so excited. I have voiced tons of stuff in my career, but voicing a running app is so cool to me…Maybe because running was always such a big thing in my family. My brother Cory is a competitive middle distance runner whom I have always looked up too…..

Here’s Cory when he was getting filmed for a video for his sponsor Stormtech Performance Apparel.

This was last summer in Taber, Alberta during CORN FEST!!!

OH, and my bro got a GOLD Medal for a 1st place fisnish in the 10km run. Couldn’t be more proud..

If I ever need workout motivation, I text my brother and ask him what he’s been up to running-wise…..

Ha! Ya, that’s my brother for ya. He trains himself, he is AMAZING.

Need running motivation? Listen to…….ME! On this NEW running App!!!! I am so excited about it… BUY IT

I bought it today, but haven’t tried it yet. Let ME motivate you on your runs!! lol I don’t say much, just how far you’ve run, congrats, stuff like that… but I’m curious to see how it turned out;)

I haven’t done much running. Since  I got my bunny hug with head phones, I have been walking to pilates so I can  listen to audiobooks as I walk amongst the palm trees. (So- I have been rocking the pilates, but I am going to start running more and trying out the App voiced. My foot has been feeling DAMN good, so I think I can get back into the running)

Such an nice walk along the California Palm trees…

In honour of Canada, we bought Painter a moose from PETCO.
He ate the moose’s ear and foot OFF by the time we got home.. 4 minute drive!

Spent $70 bucks at PETCO and he just DESTROYS all his blessings and gifts….JERK! haha

Well, tonight Mike and I went for dinner on the Pier right where we live. It was a windy, sorta chilly evening, (for Californians, NOT Canadians…Mike was in a t-shirt lol) It was a lovely evening. We brainstormed our next steps, ideas, actions, goals and had happy-hour margarita’s to boot…. Pretty cool eh??? oooooohhhhhhhh yaaaaaa! haha

Thanks for stopping by…….I see all the light and golden abundance that surrounds you. You are ROCKING this week. All the angels and the stars see your light….they are sending you a new idea…… What is the new idea that they are giving you?? Seriously. Sounds crazy…but be creative…there is an idea inside you that is wanting to be acted upon…DO IT.

  • Hey!

So did you watch the oscars yesterday?

I hadn’t seen ANY of the movies except for The Help and boy oh boy, I thought Viola Davis should have won best actress, but I maybe should watch the other nominees in their films before I judge… but Meryl Streep again??? lol

Awards shows usually motivate me. I just think of how dedicated these artists are to their craft. The fire-y passion they have inside to never give up on what they truly love to do.

As wacky and anorexic (hello Angelina) as some of the “stars” are. We can learn from (some) of them– that you need to take RISKS and not be afraid to chase your dream!
Here’s a shot of Mike and I on Hollywood Walk of Fame a couple weeks ago, where ALL the action was yesterday….

Yesterday afternoon I took my journal and myself to the beach. I was feeling an urge to WRITE, just get all my thoughts out on paper. Sometimes it helps with clarity…

In order to achieve your goals. You need to BE CLEAR. If you don’t know what you want, how does the universe know what to bring you?
As I wrote I was daydreaming while watching the ocean. So much action out their. Dolphins, birds, sea-lions, surfers, so much to get lost in. Love it.

Some questions are…stay in LA?…or go back to our homeland?… We will definitely go back soonish for some things we need to take care of, but come back? or stay in Canada….
We ARE missing “Roll up the Rim” right now at Tim Hortons! NOOOOOOOOOOO!! haha

I don’t feel too bad because I never win cars or trips… This is what I usually see…

No matter what happens, all I can do is keep learning, loving and living life to it’s fullest.
I recently finished a 6 week working pro course for voiceovers at Kalmenson and Kalmenson. (they are a huge LA based casting agency that also has an education center for voice actors) I learnt so much and am looking at my scripts differently everyday… I LOVE all the classes and workshops you can take here. The other voice actors are amazing to learn from as well….

I feel a bit dramatic today-let’s just call it introspective and reflective…..whatever we call it…Enough about ME!…what about you? What is shaking? Is 2012 going as planned so far? Are you knocking off your goals? Taking those risks or challenges you said you would?
I hope so! You can do it!! Tomorrow is a new day. MAKE IT COUNT!

    xoxo

  • Hey Gang!

    What’s shakin this weekend??

Me, I’ve just been shopping in the JR. section at JC Penny. I know, pretty rad!
Ok, take a close look at my new neon pink bunnyhug (we call them bunnyhugs where I come from!)

I know your wondering, WHY are Amanda’s hoodie strings in her ears????

    hoodie buddy
They are ear buds…oh my…what fun I can have listening to music and audiobooks on my way to pilates and while walking on the beach. When I was little I used to lose my mittens, so I’d need that string attached to the mitts that went through the back of my jacket. Now, this is like the big person version of the mitten string….A hoodie that has ear buds in the strings…

    bunny hug buddy

This may be more of a high school kid novelty, but I LOVE them:)

I also got a new pair of really comfy slip ons, since Painter has pretty much destroyed my other 2 pairs of flats that I have with me here… These Rocket Dogs were only $25… Feel like slippers on…

    rocket dogs, neutral

I took my new shoes and my new sweater on a walk to visit a fellow voiceover artist whom I hadn’t met in person yet. Her name is Lisa Biggs. Guaranteed you have heard her before on your TV. She is the voice on many, many cartoons, animations, commercials, videogames, kids toys, etc. She just voiced a toy dog for Fisher Price, And Hasbro hired her to be the voice of a new Pound Puppy toy coming out next year!

(btw-doesn’t it look like that fish on the wall is telling me a secret? haha)

Lisa has even been a character on The Simpsons! She is amazing… I don’t really do character voices or animation, but it was soooo cool chatting with her about the biz. She has been doing it for about 12 years and knows so much about the industry.

    Check her out at www.lisabiggs.com

We went for lunch at a fun mexican restaurant by the beach.

Can’t wait to hang out again:)

Earlier today we took Painter to the dog park. I am teaching him to STAY in the back seat when he’s in the truck.

He’s been doing really good at staying back there! Good boy…

I don’t think I’ve showed you my little studio set up down here. Pretty cute hey? lol… The curtain comes down when I’m recording.. It looks like some kind of weird green space missle…

    voiceover, home studio

It’s really doing the trick though. Been keeping busy with a variety of fun, interesting projects. One project I’ve been loving is voicing an on-going course on Global Warming for the University of San Franscisco. I’m totally digging it!

Oh gosh, I better go.. Painter is crawling on me like a jungle gym.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!!!

  • Hey Friends!

Have you ever tried Pilates? Like the reformer pilates on this crazy machine called a “reformer”?

Today was my first day. I keep hearing how amazing it is,so I bought a pass to a location near me and I am going to give it the ol college try! It is a limited group of 10 people (since there are only 10 machines) You need to sign up well in advance to reserve your machine, which is nice because you can walk in right before class and know that you have a spot. (no roaming and scoping the room for a space to put your yoga mat—not that that is a big dread, but you know what I mean;)

So I sign up for class and above your class fees you HAVE to buy a pair of their non-slip tread socks. Ok, I get it, you need the grip, but for $17, they don’t really seem to special to me.. I picked the ones with stars on them.

These are the exact pair I got (but not my feet- I spared you..)

I’m ain’t buying more than one pair, so I guess I’ll get good at washing them.

Hey, check this shot out from a photo shoot I did with my bff Janna from Swoon Photography when she was here visiting last week.

I had such a fun time with Janna and the stylist Diana.

Janna is in Las Vegas now attending a world renowned Photography tradeshow. Go Janna! Taking over your market with your amazing talent.

Last night I made a new video-voice demo so I could upload it to my voice.com profile, but the darn site is not accepting my video right now. I tried to call the head office, but I was soon reminded that it was family day in Ontario (as well and Alberta and Sask) I think those are the only provinces that celebrate family day. Here in the USA, I went to buy stamps at the post office and they were closed in honor of Presidents Day…

Anyway, here is my new video-voice demo. I still have more videos I want to add/exchange, but this is all I could track down for now.

    Woot woot.
Alrighty then, time for me to sleep and get ready for another day behind the mic and on the reformer!

Hope all is well in your world. Happy Family Day, Presidents Day or just DAY! YOU Day!

    xo

  • Hello!

Saturday Night Baby! I’ve been out and about all week, so tonight I am looking forward to just chilling out at home, while watching a movie or some mindless television via the Internet.

We’ve had my bff and her hubby in town for the past bit and it has been such a memorable, super fun visit…

(here we are on the pier singing karaoke at a local pub)

Among all the good times, there have been a few, slightly tiresome mornings- this morning being one of them….

    Manhatten Beach
While Mike and I lay in bed this morning he looks over at me and says, “ugh, I think maybe I’ll skip volleyball.” (He signed up for a series of workshops on the beach, which he has been loving). I thought, “No doubt! I would probably skip too!”

But then….my husband, being the role model and trooper that he is, got himself out of bed and took himself to the court..Ummm, well…I took him to the court cause I need the truck..but you get the picture..HE WENT.

He went. I was proud of him. Small feat, but large feat at the same time. It is these small moments that are defining and building towards our future. It’s the disciple and integrity to “Show Up”. Don’t they say, 80% of success is just “showing up”.

    Also…..

OOOOHHHH YA! I am ready for a “kick in the butt with a frozen muk luk”. (Prairie saying, lol) but, my honeymoon is over and it’s time to get back to the GYM on a consistent basis.

Ok…another move I was proud of this week was…..I REALLY wanted this one particular voice gig. It was a national tv spot for The Weather Network…

Before auditioning, I spent 3 minutes meditating and visualizing that I got the spot and that they loved my audition and it worked.. I got the gig! I’m not saying it’s ONLY because of my visualizing, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt either….

What I’ll leave you with today is this absolutely adorable video of Kristen Bell. She is soo cute. I cry A LOT, so watching this made me laugh… she is so funny… You may have been one of the 9 million who have already seen it, but here it is again!

    ha! love it!

Enjoy the rest of your weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnddddd!
