  • Happy weekend friends. wooo hooo.

Momma mia, there is a new health kick kid on the block. (Ooohh, actually it’s been around for centuries, but I am just discovering it all now..)

In my pilates class I overheard one of the girls in my class saying that she drink a bottle of Kombucha a day. I have also seen this stuff on other raw foodies websites and just heard overall that it is a good for you.

2 days ago I spotted this at Whole Foods and had to try it. To be honest, I thought I would hate it, but mmmmm, I liked it! Tastes like sparking water…

TONS of celebrities drink this stuff, but here’s where it gets weird… Lindsay Lohan’s “scram” bracelet went off for alcohol detection and she blamed it on her Kombucha since there are TRACE amounts of alcohol in this drink (it even says it on the bottle) THEN Whole Foods PULLED this product from the shelf, only to devastate many loyal consumers…

Within no time, the product was back on the shelf, Lindsay’s “people” apologized for misleading the G.T. Synergy Kombucha drink.

Here are all the things Kombucha is good for:

    *Probiotics – healthy bacteria
*Alkalize the body – balances internal pH
*Detoxify the liver – happy liver = happy mood
*Increase metabolism – rev your internal engine
*Improve digestion – keep your system moving
*Rebuild connective tissue – helps with arthritis, gout, asthma, rheumatism
    *Cancer prevention
    *Alleviate constipation
*Boost energy – helps with chronic fatigue
    *Reduce blood pressure
    *Relieve headaches & migraines
    *Reduce kidney stones
*High in antioxidants – destroy free-radicals that cause cancer
    *High in polyphenols
    *Improve eyesight
*Heal excema – can be applied topically to soften the skin
    *Prevent artheriosclerosis
*Speed healing of ulcers – kills h.pylori on contact
*Help clear up candida & yeast infections
    *Aid healthy cell regeneration
    *Reduce gray hair
*Lower glucose levels – prevents spiking from eating

Umm YA! I’ll drink to that… But EWWW, here’s what it looks like when it is fermenting. It is alive and often grows to the shape of it container when harvesting this stuff…People think it’s made from mushrooms, but it’s really just a yeast that actually carbonates naturally.. So when you drink it, it has a fizzy taste..

I’ll only drink it when it’s in a pretty bottle and tastes good…. My friend Amanda from SKNclinic.ca loves the green one… I’ll pick that one up next time….

I want to live long. I want to be healthy. I strive to be healthy, feel healthy. Strive to be and feel vibrant and full of life and love… I am not perfect, I have not been 100% raw since the new year has started. I don’t beat myself up though. Since I took the Feed Life, Starve Cancer classes in Vancouver, I see the benefits of other foods. Such as steamed yams, steamed veggies (for variety), whole grain rice and legumes. I miss 100% raw, but I’ve been kind of all over the map since being in LA. No excuses, just in a different head space. Really want to buckle down again with my choices soon. LESS beer and mexican food—- More raw, live, fresh fruits and veggies… I can do that!!

Here’s some shots by the wonderful Swoon Photography taken a couple weeks ago down here in California.

This shoot was such a blast. The lovely Diana from The Look Machine helped style it.

I’m Fun! (most of the time)

Nice black and white shot. 2 sets of eyelashes baby!

At this moment. I can hear people swimming in our outdoor pool and I am loving it. I MAY have to go for a dip. It’s a heated pool….

It’s been so nice to spend the rainy (Vancouver season) in Sunny California. I still really miss home though..I’m sure we’ll be back soon enough!

Sending you love, light, power and might….You are so amazing. I love this quote by my fellow Canadian tribe member, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Wayne Gretzky. Amen Wayne, Amen…..

  • Hey Friends!

Have you ever tried Pilates? Like the reformer pilates on this crazy machine called a “reformer”?

Today was my first day. I keep hearing how amazing it is,so I bought a pass to a location near me and I am going to give it the ol college try! It is a limited group of 10 people (since there are only 10 machines) You need to sign up well in advance to reserve your machine, which is nice because you can walk in right before class and know that you have a spot. (no roaming and scoping the room for a space to put your yoga mat—not that that is a big dread, but you know what I mean;)

So I sign up for class and above your class fees you HAVE to buy a pair of their non-slip tread socks. Ok, I get it, you need the grip, but for $17, they don’t really seem to special to me.. I picked the ones with stars on them.

These are the exact pair I got (but not my feet- I spared you..)

I’m ain’t buying more than one pair, so I guess I’ll get good at washing them.

Hey, check this shot out from a photo shoot I did with my bff Janna from Swoon Photography when she was here visiting last week.

I had such a fun time with Janna and the stylist Diana.

Janna is in Las Vegas now attending a world renowned Photography tradeshow. Go Janna! Taking over your market with your amazing talent.

Last night I made a new video-voice demo so I could upload it to my voice.com profile, but the darn site is not accepting my video right now. I tried to call the head office, but I was soon reminded that it was family day in Ontario (as well and Alberta and Sask) I think those are the only provinces that celebrate family day. Here in the USA, I went to buy stamps at the post office and they were closed in honor of Presidents Day…

Anyway, here is my new video-voice demo. I still have more videos I want to add/exchange, but this is all I could track down for now.

    Woot woot.
Alrighty then, time for me to sleep and get ready for another day behind the mic and on the reformer!

Hope all is well in your world. Happy Family Day, Presidents Day or just DAY! YOU Day!

    xo

  • Hello!

Saturday Night Baby! I’ve been out and about all week, so tonight I am looking forward to just chilling out at home, while watching a movie or some mindless television via the Internet.

We’ve had my bff and her hubby in town for the past bit and it has been such a memorable, super fun visit…

(here we are on the pier singing karaoke at a local pub)

Among all the good times, there have been a few, slightly tiresome mornings- this morning being one of them….

    Manhatten Beach
While Mike and I lay in bed this morning he looks over at me and says, “ugh, I think maybe I’ll skip volleyball.” (He signed up for a series of workshops on the beach, which he has been loving). I thought, “No doubt! I would probably skip too!”

But then….my husband, being the role model and trooper that he is, got himself out of bed and took himself to the court..Ummm, well…I took him to the court cause I need the truck..but you get the picture..HE WENT.

He went. I was proud of him. Small feat, but large feat at the same time. It is these small moments that are defining and building towards our future. It’s the disciple and integrity to “Show Up”. Don’t they say, 80% of success is just “showing up”.

    Also…..

OOOOHHHH YA! I am ready for a “kick in the butt with a frozen muk luk”. (Prairie saying, lol) but, my honeymoon is over and it’s time to get back to the GYM on a consistent basis.

Ok…another move I was proud of this week was…..I REALLY wanted this one particular voice gig. It was a national tv spot for The Weather Network…

Before auditioning, I spent 3 minutes meditating and visualizing that I got the spot and that they loved my audition and it worked.. I got the gig! I’m not saying it’s ONLY because of my visualizing, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt either….

What I’ll leave you with today is this absolutely adorable video of Kristen Bell. She is soo cute. I cry A LOT, so watching this made me laugh… she is so funny… You may have been one of the 9 million who have already seen it, but here it is again!

    ha! love it!

Enjoy the rest of your weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnddddd!

  • Hello my fellow earthings!! Happy Monday.

I went for a walk yesterday and was blown away at all the dino-size pelicans that were all over the boardwalk and pier.

Oh look another one.. (looks like he’s about to swallow that guys head! These things are fierce!)

    Attack of the dino-size pelicans!

BUT THEN! I saw a pack of dolphins in the bay! I couldn’t tell at first if they were whales, sharks or what- but I learnt that they were dolphins once we got a better look.

Sunset from a pub near-by. We snuck in to watch the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. FUN!

Meanwhile, back on the oceans floor, this is a design the waves were making as the rolled in. Took this one on my iphone. So neat how they look like branches, but its from the water….

Hey look, a sealion! (oh wait, that’s just Mike!)  Sea lions are a plenty though. I can hear them yipping from my balcony!!

Back at the homefront, I made almond milk today. 1 cup of soaked almonds (soaked in water overnight) Then blended with 3 cups of water.

    Almond Milk with the vitamix

I usually use the sock of pantyhose (never used panty hose!) or you can use a cheese cloth or Whole foods produce bag to STRAIN out the pulp, but I didn’t have any of those options today, so I kept the pulp in…Still takes good. In Almond milk, you can add vanilla, agave, pinch of salt, etc. I didn’t use anything though- just straight almonds.

Then it was time to bust out my new espresso machine (a generous gift from our friends Donna and Robert who just moved to Australia)

I put poured some milk into the steamer tin, added in some raw cacao….

Made my espresso, steamed the almond milk with cacao and poured the frothy, chocolaty almond milk into a mug with the espresso shot…

    Espresso

Just call me SISTA OF THE BARISTA! mmmmmmmmmmm

It was so good and momma mia, it got me going! Just what I needed mid-day. Excited to experiment more with the espresso machine.

Okee dokeeeeeeeee, I’ll get rolling. If you have any fun espresso recipes, let me know.

    Love and lots of light…xoxo

  • Ahhh, The Never Ending Story….

Did you ever watch that movie? I loved watching it when I was little. Life is like a never ending story… all your experiences along the way keep making up a new chapter in your book.

We write our own stories with the decisions we make and the paths we choose to go down. Sometimes it’s scary though. Sometimes I think to myself… “what the bleep am I doing???” but for some reason I am just being pulled a certain way and I want to explore.  For better or for worse, a motto I have always held near and dear to my heart is:

I’ve had some amazing experiences, and I am never going to stop dreaming…but I am getting to a stage in my life where I think it would be cool to have a family of my own and discover together!! One day…

On a side note…Doesn’t Painter look like the character in The Never Ending Story????

    haha What a guy.

Hey- have you heard the saying, “Half the fat if you share it with a friend?” Well the other day I treated myself to a java chip frap from Starbucks. Well, I had to run into a friends house to grab something…..Painter was in the car……When I came back…..Painter was on a caffeine HIGH!!!!

The only “good thing” I could see coming out of this scene was the fact that he had just saved me a bunch of calories…Thanks for helping me stay in shape you coffee-junkie!!!!

Anyway, sorry I’ve been busy a bit since we’ve got here. I know I haven’t posted everyday! (boo!) But I’ve been getting adjusted, working, taking voice acting classes (tell you about those soon! It’s been amazing) Oh and we just had to move again today! Except now, we are steps from the ocean. This is gonna be great. We are still in the moving process, half of our stuff is out there, half of our stuff is still in the Hollywood area..so we’ll git er done tomorrow and see how things flow..

Good news my bff and her husband from Sask are coming to visit us in Feb, and in March, mom is going to vegas, so I will drive out and meet her! We drove to Vegas from Montana in January. We got there when the sun was just coming up. Here’s a shot I took from our Flamingo (pet friendly) hotel room…

    sunrise in vegas

I love, love, love having you stop by! Come back again soon. Keep writing that amazing story of yours!! xoxo
